British oil tankers seized by Iran
The Daily Telegraph ^

A British-flagged oil tanker was seized by Iran on Friday night and was heading towards a Revolutionary Guard base, in a major escalation of tensions along one of the world's most vital oil shipping routes.

The Stena Impero had been en route to Saudi Arabia but made an abrupt change of course and began moving towards the Iranian island of Qeshm, according to data relayed by maritime tracking services.

The ship “went dark”, meaning its identification system was turned off, at 16:29 UK time and nothing has been heard from her or her 23 crew since.

Northern Marine, a Clyde-based subsidiary of the ship's Swedish owner Stena AB, confirmed that a “hostile action” had preceded the vessel's change of course on Friday afternoon.

The Iranian ship was allegedly violating EU sanctions. Who the hell is the EU to be imposing sanctions on a country that isn’t part of the EU? And why is Britain enforcing EU sanctions? Isn’t Britain supposed to be LEAVING the EU?

It’s startling to see the rationalizations for this globalist bullsh!t here on FR.

They finished initial operations of the F35 late last year.

It would be ready to go except they wanted to tie up some loose strings such as crew assignments and training.

The brits love those vertical takeoff planes for some reason.

We may see how well the new F35 works.

I would bet they’d send it if there is enough crew trained to do the job.

Two things made the Middle East a problem:

1. Europe (meaning France & the UK) didn’t react to the 1975 oil embargo like they did to the 1956 closing of the Suez,

2. We let Shia Islam have Iran. It emboldened all Islam.

It may not have been an Iranian tanker. Iran complained loudly about it, though. Maybe it was just transporting Iranian oil.

“I don’t see what the Americans could do anyway, other than go for all out war.”

Destroy Kharg Island the major export center for Iranian Oil. It is a whole battery of oil storage tanks and pumps. It would burn like hell. Their economy sucks today and if such was done it would go into total collapse. Destroy the minor Iranian navel assets in the Persian Gulf. Announce that any ship be it a naval vessel or rowboat will be destroyed if it leaves port. Destroy all the pumping stations for Iranian Oil pipelines to the Gulf.

Tell them harsh message to follow:

Harsh message = individual strikes against the leaders of Iran. Make it personal.

It's because they fail so badly at basketball compared to Americans. Get that jump ball.

[The last I heard, the UK’s only aircraft carrier, the HMS Queen Elizabeth, had no aircraft.]

The Royal Navy still has submarines, does it not?

and if they don’t what message does it send to their ‘ friends ‘ in Argentina?

I seriously doubt the Brits have any guts any more. Maybe a lot of the general public but the government? Forget it.

The reason Trump did not bomb Iran after the shootdown of the Global Hawk? He needed a bigger trigger event, for both prudential and political reasons. Is this that trigger event? Good question. Whatever it is, I expect US retaliation to be on the scale of Praying Mantis.

It is to deflect something. They completely omit the fact that the British seized the Iranian ship first. Plus they are still trying to get President in a shooting war with Iran. Should they succeed in that, then, with a fury never before seen, they will turn on President Trump.

Think it’s time to sink every ship and boat on the Iranian coast. Blow them all up at night to minimize the loss of life. But don’t leave a single one floating.

imho the Mesdar was boarded to make sure the igrc got a tanker if one of the attempts failed.
they got one so the other was released.

this is all ‘diplomacy’ stuff at this point.

the interesting item is that iran claims boarding rights for ‘ecological and regulatory’ purposes. A treaty probably gives them that right.

once they’re aboard the tanker is defenseless though.

Although you are correct, the UK presently has but one “in service” air craft carrier. I do believe you are incorrect however, concerning it having “no aircraft”.

Routine peacetime deployment of twelve F-35Bs, but a typical warload will be 24 F-35Bs and some helicopters.

What most people may not realize is that the Strait of Hormuz is NOT international waters. It is only 21 miles wide at its narrowest point, so any ship passing through it must pass through the 12-mile territorial waters of either Iran or the United Arab Emirates.

Please permit me to suggest a third.

3. Saddam Hussein was a monster. But he was also a check against Iran. And he was also a check against radical Islam. Bush II removed Saddam. That was just as bad as Carter removing the Shah.

bah.
trump doesn’t want Congress to have the great power over him that a war would give them.
he’d end up like bush: giving congress whatever it wanted in exchange for the ability to do the job.
And losing, like Bush.
That’s how our Constitution works.

looking forward to an ‘iranian’ attack on a Chinese ship LoL!
