The cops had good reasons to withhold the video. It is evidence in a criminal and civil trial.
More than that - Propaganda agents - Dallas News - are using this story to smear the cops with their agenda.
As delineated, the police acted in an irresponsible and abusive manner. To protect and serve? Yeah, right.
There was certainly reason to list the death of homicide. What needs to be determined is the degree of culpability on the officers’ part if any. He did not die from the cocaine.
The use of the sedative will certainly be called into question.
When you are afraid or in trouble and don’t know where to turn, don’t call the cops.
Where does DPD get these fools?
I hope the family’s attorneys make a lot of money out of this but what good will it do? The guy is needlessly dead. These stupid cops killed him because they were jealous.
The rent a cops should be toast as well. They behaved stupidly.
Timpa was probably not much count but he didn’t deserve this kind of treatment. He had not committed any crime other than to maybe under the influence of coke.

The cops screwed up big time and then went through all kinds of hoops to cover it up.

Really? How do you figure that? Is it because they are mentally ill? Is it because they were incredibly stupid and used a dangerous drug (did they even understand the dangers)? Because they called the police who usually aren’t trained in dealing with schizophrenics?
Who else deserves whatever they get when they call police or even EMTs when they are in distress? Cause it would save county and municipal governments a lot of money if you would send a “Deserve whatever happens to them.” list to save on those call outs.
And you are precisely correct. I would not want their job but I do not want to encounter them for any reason at all. Ever. They are scary. They are being conditioned to treat all the public as scum to be dealt with harshly.

If it had, they'd release it in a heartbeat.
But it's fine to make your own assessment or judgement based on the video/audio because the jury will be doing the same exact thing.
Another one dead to prove, if more proof is needed that involving the police in any situation just makes the situation worse. Of all the things not to do, calling 9-11 ranks at the top. I do hope that the police went home and got a good night’s sleep. Who gets credit for the kill or do they have to share it?
Thank you for that useful information. From reading the article in the DMN these guys screwed the pooch. They have engaged in a massive three year coverup of their stupidity and insensitivity.

Nah. They will claim that they felt threatened, that they felt their life was in danger. And will immediately start anew for their next victim.
Dallas news don’t need to smear these cops. They took care of it all by themselves. They behaved stupidly. Read the article if you doubt that. Any suggestion that they are not guilty in this death is awfully sketchy.

I just can’t respect cops in general any more. Not when they do things like this and don’t police themselves but instead conspire a massive coverup to hide their terrible deeds.

Cops need to be reined in, and they need to clean up completely.
