There are already overly restrictive background checks in place. As far as I know, both shooters bought their guns legally and probably passed said checks.
Trump’s problem is he listens to that moron daughter of his,

The only mass shooting that the government could have prevented occurred at the Sutherland Baptist Church shooting in Texas. The killer was in trouble with the law when he was in the military, but through sloppy record keeping, that was not put on his record. As a result of that government failure, he was able to buy guns that killed 26 worshipers. So much for relying on government to protect you.
Trump in other words is speaking of tyranny?
Obama was better for the second amendment than Trump.
How about stong background checks on mentally ill people who post violents threats and fantasies?

The second amendment was designed to protect “We The People” from the government. Protect “We The People” with better laws against the corrupt deep sate government and then we can talk about the second amendment.
Although I recoil at anything leading to gun restrictions, modernization of the background system is fine with me...on our terms. For example, this Dayton shooters ‘hit list’ should be part of the background check. It was expunged as juvenile record but should play into ability to buy a weapon a few years later. We have infinitely more data today that 25 years ago and more should go in to it. Especially for people under 25 where we are seeing this problem. Believe me I see the danger of opening Pandora’s box here, but much like immigration, we would benefit by modernizing the systems.
A New Yorker who’s a strong advocate for our 2nd amendment rights? I don’t know if there’s been one of them since 1776. This is what’s scared me about Trump all along. Let’s just hope it’s one of his negotiating tactics.

President Trump is setting a trap for democrats. He stated in his tweet he wants background checks for guns tied to border security. He knows darn well democrats can’t and won’t give and inch on border security, their base won’t let them. So he can come out in a couple weeks and say, “Hey I tried, I was ready to sign a background check bill, but democrats wouldn’t bend an inch on border security, they most not care about “the children”.”
If they want to stop the mass murders, then start publicly executing condemned murderers like they used to do.
If people don’t watch executions, then there is no deterrent by example. And bring back hangings. These clinically clean executions by lethal injection aren’t a deterrent either.
Looks like Trump just ruined his chances for re-election.........hell for that matter he may have just made the 2nd American Civil War inevitable.
There is NO WAY IN HELL WE WILL GIVE UP OUR 2ND AMENDMENT RIGHTS!
They are the ONLY thing that has kept us from tyranny thus far.

He isn’t playing politics, he is giving in to the winds of tyranny and DOESN’T EVEN REALIZE IT.
There is no way on earth all of these mass shootings are coincidence - they are being drummed up somehow, someway - possibly via brainwashing, subliminal messaging, who knows........BUT THEY SURE AS HELL AREN’T COINCIDENCE.
The tactic itself is simple - create enough carnage until the populace is willing to give up their most important God-given rights to make the carnage end.
