McCain 2.0 Strikes Again: Dan Crenshaw Supports Gun Confiscation
BLP ^ | Aug 5, 2019 | Jose Nino

Posted on 08/05/2019 5:04:23 PM PDT by Farcesensitive

After the El Paso and Dayton shootings, Crenshaw expressed his horror at these atrocities.

But he took it a step further.

In a tweet he stated that “The solutions aren’t obvious, even if we pretend they are. But we must try. Let’s start with the TAPS Act. Maybe also implement state “red flag” laws, or gun violence restraining orders. Stop them before they can hurt someone. https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-congress/house-bill/838/text”

Crenshaw’s endorsement of The Threat Assessment, Prevention, and Safety (TAPS) Act reveals his establishment colors.

BLP previously reported on the TAPS Act introduced by Congressman Brian Babin (TX-36) in the House of Representatives and Senator Marco Rubio (FL) in the Senate:

It does the following:

Standardizes and provides a behavioral threat assessment and management process across the Federal government. Provides states the training, resources, and support needed to stand up community-based, multi-disciplinary behavioral threat assessment and management units. Recognizes that behavioral threat assessment and management processes must become part of the culture and fabric of contemporary law enforcement. Urges that this is a matter of national security – if we act now and work together, we can save lives.

Harmless title notwithstanding, many believe that the TAPS Act would potentially function as a pre-crime bill.

Giving more power to the FedMob by taking more control of authority that belongs to the states and the people is not my idea of conservative. Much less Constitutional.

“FAIRFAX, Va.— The NRA welcomes the President’s call to address the root causes of the horrific acts of violence that have occurred in our country.  It has been the NRA’s long-standing position that those who have been adjudicated as a danger to themselves or others should not have access to firearms and should be admitted for treatment.”

The key word is adjudicated and this is the current state of law. I don't see movement toward red flag laws which allow or require confiscation before adjudication.

That said, I have written and encourage other NRA members to express opposition to Red Flag laws.

Not the first time NRA sold out. They sell it to membership as “if we don’t concede this compromise, the legislators will pass even more restrictive laws.”

They help to boil the frog by keeping the rise in temperature slow.

No. That’s not what the NRA said. Adjudication on insanity is another practice that has already been in law for a long time.

But what the NRA says President Trump said is not what he said. He wants red flag laws. That’s different.

"That said, I have written and encourage other NRA members to express opposition to Red Flag laws."

Now that is the right thing to do! Why sit around and allow the left be the only voice that the NRA hears?

So they are lying to help him pass Red Flag laws?

Because that’s what it sounds like to me.

I’m not sure that the NRA or Crenshaw are selling out. I really don’t. I am deeply conflicted about “Red Flags”.

I got a proposal. First the government removes all the currently illegal guns that are held by active gang members. All of them. If the government can survive that project, they might actually be ready for us.
