Brexit Secretary Signs Order To Scrap 1972 Brussels Act - Ending All EU Law In The UK
Gov.UK ^ | 08/18/19

Posted on 08/18/2019 3:20:07 PM PDT by Enlightened1

The 1972 Act is the vehicle that sees regulations flow into UK law directly from the EU’s lawmaking bodies in Brussels.

The announcement of the Act’s repeal marks a historic step in returning lawmaking powers from Brussels to the UK. We are taking back control of our laws, as the public voted for in 2016.

The repeal of the European Communities Act 1972 will take effect when Britain formally leaves the EU on October 31.

Speaking after signing the legislation that will crystallise in law the upcoming repeal of the ECA, the Secretary of State for Exiting the EU Steve Barclay said:

This is a clear signal to the people of this country that there is no turning back - we are leaving the EU as promised on October 31, whatever the circumstances - delivering on the instructions given to us in 2016.

The votes of 17.4 million people deciding to leave the EU is the greatest democratic mandate ever given to any UK Government. Politicians cannot choose which public votes they wish to respect. Parliament has already voted to leave on 31 October. The signing of this legislation ensures that the EU Withdrawal Act will repeal the European Communities Act 1972 on exit day.

The ECA saw countless EU regulations flowing directly into UK law for decades, and any government serious about leaving on October 31 should show their commitment to repealing it.

That is what we are doing by setting in motion that repeal. This is a landmark moment in taking back control of our laws from Brussels.

The Global Elite will NOT like this. They don’t like to see their little controlled minions rebel.
.........................................
Scrapping the 1972 Brussels Act will QUICKLY prove to be the most politically positive change since its enactment not only for the UK but for all of Europe and for the USA.

This was what Boris was put in office to do. It’s just a pity it’s taken this long.

Your move, Comrade Corbyn.

“What was the MAIN reason for BRexit to begin with?”

There were always a variety of irritants (the UK is always a net Bill Payer into the EU kitty), but I believe the big one, and the one that broke the camel’s back, was the EU forcing them accept a lot of immigrants, who became public charges and security problems.

It's true. In Brussels you have a large and ludicrously highly paid (tax exempt, by the way) gang of control freak bureaucrats with almost nothing of any real substance to do. So to justify their expense account existence (and satisfy their urge to micro-manage and control the "peasantry") they issue regulations that homogenize every aspect of Europeans' lives.

They detest the differences which used to make Europe such a diverse (in the good sense) and vibrant set of unique nations and cultures. And naturally, the overall bent of that homogenization tends to favor the German model of conformity and Alles muss in ordung sein (there must be order). Many of the regulations ended up causing economic damage as well. British fishermen losing their livelihoods due to Brussels turning their offshore fishing grounds over to others and limiting the British in their own traditional waters is just one example.

Britain in particular has always held itself aloof from how "foreigners" on the continent conduct themselves. And so the arrogance of Brussels combined with what remains of British pride and a memory of their freedoms, the same ones our ancestors saw as their birthright, pushed them to the brink of a polite but firm ballot box rebellion. It's not that dissimilar from Trump's "Drain the Swamp" election, rejecting the heavy hand of D.C., in 2016. In fact the latter probably helped convince the Brits that it was possible for them to put two fingers up to Brussels.

It’s really just insane that someone would even try to regulate it.

Sure why bother when they could just use smart meters?

I am listening to Jeremy Corbyn talk about blocking a no-deal Brexit by whatever means necessary.

He wants another vote...which was the plan all along by those who never accepted the will of the people.

The socialists hope that they can scare the British subjects into remaining under EU control because the opposite is too dangerous and unknown.

I can certainly see the British people surrendering...something I could not have imagined a few years ago.

That was always in the works post-Brexit for the freedom of travel for other EU country nationals to travel.

Corbyn is talking now...like a good socialist about transfer of wealth from those that have to those that have not, increasing the minimum wage, etc, etc, etc.

He vows to block a no-deal Brexit by demanding an election and having another vote.

The socialists are convinced that they have scared the British subjects enough with the “unknowns” of a no-Brexit deal that they will vote to remain.

You mistake Corbyn. He’s always been anti-EU, which is why he was so equivocal during the Brexit campaign, and why he’s always resisted Labour going out-and-out for a second referendum. He was first elected to Parliament on the anti-Europe Labour manifesto for the 1983 Election, and voted against every EU treaty since then. His entire strategy since the referendum has been to seek party political advantage rather than to cancel Brexit. His own party is as divided on the issue as the Conservatives, but the left wing of Labour, to which Corbyn belongs and which is now in charge, has always been Eurosceptic.

Boris Johnson is like a clone of Trump...

That may be true. But remember...despite DJT's determination we don't have a wall and we still have 30 million wetbacks living here collecting welfare. Why? Because he can't rule by executive fiat.

And neither can Boris Johnson. It's my understanding that it's the Speaker of the House who decides what Parliament does, and does not, vote on...not the Prime Minister.

If I'm correct in that belief then there *will* be a vote on Brexit (for the Speaker announced just last week that he'll see to it) and it's crystal clear that a majority in Parliament oppose "no deal".

Translation: The European Swamp, led by a filthy, dirty East German in Berlin,wins...and the majority of British voters lose.

Good. The less they like it, the better. But watch your backs, Britons.

Articles 15 and 17 (formerly 11 and 13) may have been the straw that broke the camel’s back for Remainers.

Pass....those assumptions are predictions, and I’ve learned the hard way never to predict what happens next with Brexit. The only prediction I’m comfortable with is that between no and October 31st will be complicated and nasty.

Parliament will never endorse a no-deal Brexit for fear of suffering the repercussions if it goes wrong.....so they will do exactly what you say....put it back to the people for another vote, hoping that they scared them enough into remaining servants of the Fourth Reich.

Germany will have won domination over Europe....they just had to get them to relinquish their power willingly rather than taking it by force.
