Florida and the South have always had nasty bugs and critters. I got into a nest of chiggers camping in Missouri one time and thought I was going to die from itching.

None of this can be traced to global warming or Florida.

The point is that the author of the article mentioned the flesh eating bacteria being found in Florida. There is really no such thing, much like septicemia is caused by a systemic infection and not an unique agent. Also many of the strains that cause necrotizing fasciitis can be found in temperate climates.
