A few real pieces of work here these days. Along with capricious and arbitrary moderator post deleting, I find it impossible to join the fundraising.

John Davidson boat spent many, many months in Ventura Boatyard being repaired for dry rot from lack of ventilation and a leaking iron holding tank. The boatyard made mint cleaning that mess up. I was doing dry dock examinations on certificated vessel when his boat was on the ways. Was not a pleasant odor. :)

Reports are it is Truth Aquatics out of Santa Barbara. I’ve been on a day trip boat from there which was a combined kayak + scuba trip. The kayak part was booked through Santa Barbara Adventures.

I understand that, sadly as much I dislike boats in general, (been in places on ships and boats that most never had any idea they exist). I have an affection for old, classic wooden boats. I did everything I could to keep the Vaquero going when the brothers still owned Santa Rosa. She was a wonderful old cattle hauler. Followed, inspected, approved and assisted some Trumpy built yachts into Certification under Sub-Chapter “T”.

Sounds like an interesting outfit. Terrible accident. Too bad this will probably put them out of business.

The main access to the passenger sleeping area is the staircase near the galley.

If the fire started in the galley...

Lots of sailboats have gas stoves

Power being at such a premium with generators failimg on occasion

I had a generator fail about 23 days from port once...we tried pulleys and everything...lose generator you lose kicker quick enough

At times the Atlantic was like glass I could literally see my reflection when I’d lean over the gunwale

We swam and jumped off the mast and used to hibachi for kingfish steaks

Finally wind kicked up and we were heeled over to starboard getting it...

A Lafite 44

Nice boat....very nice ...

Even if you bothered to notice where the exit(s) is(are) getting out could be challenging.

Dad worked for AA so We flew quite a bit. One thing We had to do was PAY ATTENTION to the Stewardess during the Safety Briefing. Some of the things Dad taught Us was to count the Seat backs on the way to Our Seats and reference the Emergency Exits and the distance with the Seat count just incase the lighting was out and/or Smoke filled the Cabin We could "Braille" to the Exit if needed. We also would try to get the Seating at the Wing Exits because those Rows have more legroom to access the Emergency Wing Exits, and to stay away from the Rows forward and aft because they had less legroom due to the Exit Rows being bigger. Did lots of flying back then during the 60's and 70's when the Food was good, People were for the most part civil. But since 9/11/01 I no longer Fly, not from fear but I refuse to be treated like a criminal by the tsa thugs.
