There was a protest and a counterprotest. That much is clear. What I want to know is why this dude decided to run over counter protesters when he could’ve not. No one forced Fields to run over someone and now he’s spending 500 years in prison...
He probably panicked. You hear about things like that happening all the time, unfortunately, in all types of stressful situations. If he was mentally ill (and I’m not clear on that), could have something to do with it too.
The whole situation is very sad for all parties. People are too quick to blame the guy that drove the car and completely absolve Heather from any and all responsibility. She played a part in this as well. She was not an innocent bystander. Had that mob succeeded in dragging the guy from his car and beating him to a bloody pulp, the powers that be would have blamed him for being there Either way, the carnage that is left behind for the families I just can’t imagine.
