Dems Secretly Trained Thousands of Activists to Manipulate Media, Clinton Library Docs Show

DNC coordinated with activists to 'infiltrate' talk radio

The Democratic party developed an elaborate, multi-year operation in the 1990s that deployed thousands of activists to covertly mold public opinion using talk radio, according to documents from the Clinton Presidential Library.

The Democratic National Committee (DNC), with the blessing of the Clinton White House, launched the Talk Radio Initiative (TRI) ahead of the 1996 campaign. The program trained thousands of operatives to call in to radio shows, conduct surveillance of their contents, and secretly disseminate Democratic talking points while posing as ordinary listeners.

"Volunteers must be able to keep the project confidential so as not to create the image of a ‘Democratic conspiracy' to infiltrate Detroit area talk radio shows," a 1995 TRI guide prepared by Michigan Democrats said. "Democratic performance in the 1996 elections will no doubt be affected by the success or failure of this initiative."

The irony is, the Dems didn’t really need to do this in 1996, cuz the Republican Party gave the nomination to Bob Dole, one of the weakest candidates ever

1996. Not that it matters but Lamar Alexander would have had the best chance to beat Clinton, plaid shirt and all. Southern Gov.

I remember them. They all sounded robotic, something like, “I have been a Republican all my life, but the hate-filled homophobia has convinced me to vote Democrat.”

I agree that the battlefield can and MUST be shaped; we just need to be very careful NOT to use LIEberal tactics to do so!

It's the Clintons.

Given a choice between an honest dollar or a bent nickel, they'd steal both.

They'd steal a hot stove, and go back for the smoke.

“..gave the nomination to Bob Dole...”

Dole had paid his dues and was the next batter up. It was his time.

Sorry but how did this work again? Left wing talk radio never worked. No one tuned into it. Closest thing is NPR, and even then I turn the station until music comes back on. Doesn’t explain how Bush got elected and re-elected after Clinton.

Yeah, and then it was done again with McCain. Dole and McCain might as well have been McGovern making a comeback.

It was a lame attempt that didn’t work. Bribing well-esablished conservative radio hosts to attempt to derail Trump was a much better attempt. It’s funny how you can’t find a single article on it today. Liberal silicon valley was able to reset the internet.

It can also be done openly. Add correct training to our criticism.

The question is with whose money. The Dems like to use gov. funding for this kind of thing. That could make it illegal.

Well, technically, Watergate wasn’t actually done by Republicans, or at least not Nixon. John Dean apparently orchestrated the whole thing specifically to remove incriminating evidence about his then-girlfriend being involved in a callgirl ring stationed in the hotel. Nixon apparently didn’t even KNOW about it until AFTER the fact.
