John Kerry is advising Iran. The EU is advising Iran. They all hate Trump. This is probably being done in an attempt to goad Trump into another “not really war” that will harm his re-election as much as anything else.

The guy might be right. We may have actually been able to roll them up with a first strike which, naturally, scared the hell out of them. In the last few years we have learned they really weren’t the huge enemy we thought they were (were led to believe they were?). They were doing everything they could to “punch above their weight” which probably was their downfall. With a GDP the size of Texas they were trying to counter every threat we posed and they just couldn’t do it.

...so if we are going to go to war with them, let’s go to war. Trump should tell Congress War is THEIR job, his job is to prosecute THEIR war. He should also make it clear he interprets “War” as being “War.” Kill every one of them as rapidly as we can technologically make that feasible such that in a short a time as possible not only the Iranians and the rest of the world is begging us to stop.

“of course I am kidding. much of the commenting in the refinery attack thread is a total joke, however.”

Agreed. I must say there are posters around here that post crap like that. So I was sucked in at first ... and then I saw FBI was thrown in there. You almost got me. :-)

Most likely the attack on Saudi Arabia was launched by the Revolutionary Guard, which is not answerable to Iran’s government. They are self financed by drug running, extortion and arms sales.

Let’s not forget Iran’s proxy Hezbollah killing 240 Marines. We still haven’t collected on that debt.

I will say this for the Iranians...they are doing their damnedest to ensure that Netanyahu gets reelected. Kind of surprising that they’d favor him to this degree, but there’s very little that would spook the Israeli public more than an Iran starting to really get aggressive.

Since we are inevitably going to find out in ten years that whatever we are told today will be wrong why don’t we just bomb the shit out of some country that we already know has nothing to do with it. I nominate Luxembourg. They haven’t been bombed in a while.

Nah, too big. Need to start smaller, say Lichtenstein, besides, it's spelled funny.

“Gen.Blather notes that Approximately ninety percent of Iran’s export capability is concentrated on Kharg island which isn’t even reachable by a bridge. A few cruise missiles or a single sortie could beggar Iran.”

Not only that, but a few dozen cruise missiles spitting out incendiary sub-munitions could cripple Iran’s refinery capacity. Their entire economy would grind to a halt very quickly, with their military not far behind.

They talk and act real tough for a country with the equivalent of two bum knees fighting a 5th degree black belt in any martial art.

That statement was made in the early 1980’s. He was part Of Reagan’s administration.

“From 1978 to 1980, Kupperman was the senior defense analyst for the Committee on the Present Danger.[6]

In 1980, Kupperman was a foreign policy adviser to Ronald Reagan’s presidential campaign.[7] After Reagan was elected, Kupperman joined the Reagan administration. He was Executive Assistant to the Acting Administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and then the Executive Director of the General Advisory Committee on Arms Control[8] of the U.S. Arms Control and Disarmament Agency, before becoming the Executive Assistant to the Director of the Office of Personnel Management.[6] In July 1986 he became Special Assistant to the President and Deputy Director of the Office of Administration.[4]
