Beto O’Rourke: We’ll Use Fines to ‘Compel’ Compliance with AR-15 Ban

Robert “Beto” O’Rourke explained he plans to use fines to “compel” American gun owners to comply with his AR-15 ban, during a weekend exchange with reporters.

O’Rourke made his claim in a video posted by Fox4 DFW’s Teresa Riley.

He was asked how he plans to make Americans comply with his AR-15 ban and he said, “I begin by saying we expect our fellow Americans to follow the law. If they do not there would be a fine imposed to compel them to follow the law.”

O’Rourke went to talk about the example of Australia, citing how that country put in place a similar ban. He claimed Australia witnessed, “a near 50 percent reduction in gun violence deaths” as a result. But O’Rourke did not mention that rifles are not a statistically significant contributor to overall gun deaths in the U.S.

Agree 100 percent. People do not realize how dangerous this bumpstock ban truly is. I have said before we are now at the point where a toaster over could be defined as a machine gun so it would be quit easy now as you say to define any semi a machine gun. If the text of our laws are fluid as this clearly has set in precedent then the laws say whatever the government wants them to say.

What is this ATF incident you refer? I'm familiar with a lot of these but not sure what you are talking about. When and where did it happen?

This will never not irk me.

Why do Democrats barely talk about handguns despite how many annual deaths and injuries involve them in the United States, especially when compared to their obsession, AR-15s?

Oh, right, the politics of it, that over 70% of Americans oppose a ban on handguns. So Democrats don't really care about gun-related homicides/suicides, just politics.

Yup! I think that came through loud and clear. Of course now he is trying to back peddle but I don't think it's going to work. There is just one video clip after another on the net of him saying "hell yes, we are going to take your AR15s and AK's". He did not say anything about fining people.

He stepped in it big time with this statement.

I think the whole criticism over Beto's real childhood nickname is rather silly. Even more so since we have Raphael Eduardo Cruz, a Canadian-Cuban, who insists on an American name. I guess it shows hypocrisy in its finest to criticize one while ignoring or accepting the other. Many people have nicknames from childhood, nothing wrong with that. The real problem with Beto is his call to forcefully seize our firearms. Now, I see Harris repeating it. Both are out-of-touch with our European roots, our constitution, and setting their Democrat party up for big fail.

Democrat party: Seize firearms, disarm Americans, open our borders, give away our resources to illegals, embrace socialism. They are established anti-first amendment, anti-second amendment, and more. I don't suspect it will be hard to get them anti-fourth with questions about searching for firearms. Red flag laws already infringe upon several. The whole bill of rights and our constitution are at risk from Democrats. Engaged Americans can see this, will our disengaged Americans see it?

Their ships would run aground on all the accidentally lost firearms, outside the current 12-mile offshore limits.
