Left-wing billionaire and political donor George Soros wrote an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal on Monday in which he praised President Donald Trumps policies toward China. He then urged Congress to maintain the presidents firm stand against Chinese telecom giant Huawei overriding the White House if necessary, should Huawei become a bargaining chip in the larger trade war.
The leftist money man did not exactly shower Trump with praise in his op-ed. He portrayed Trumps actions against China as the greatest, and perhaps only, foreign policy accomplishment of the Trump administration.
Soros, 89, lauded Trumps policy as coherent and genuinely bipartisan, which necessitated ignoring a huge amount of Democrat partisan sniping at Trumps position on China, coupled with fervent promises from most of the 2020 Democrat presidential field to undo those policies as quickly as possible if they win. Soros is one of the few prominent voices on the left to describe the trade war with China as anything but a disaster.
The U.S.-Hungarian businessman said the administration was correct to see Beijing as a strategic rival and treat Huawei as a national security threat, barred from doing business with American companies by the Commerce Department.
Citing Chinas efforts to take the lead in artificial intelligence technology and 5G network, Soros predicted that as long as Huawei remains on the [banned] entity list, it will lack crucial technology and be seriously weakened because the Chinese firm remains highly dependent upon components obtained from American suppliers.
Soros explained his fierce opposition to China is based in large part on apprehension over the Chinese surveillance state and its social credit system, a means of enforcing Communist Party dogma by monitoring every aspect of public life and depriving citizens of crucial services if their citizenship and patriotism are found lacking.

I guess a broken clock can be right twice a day. Sorosis only once.
More like reverse psychology.
the monster Soros tries to cuddle up to Pres. Trump,
but it should/will not matter.
eventually some patriot will ...
Watch out - Soros’ lips are moving....
I do not undestand how the United States became Soros’s bitch.
So what’s in it for George?
Competition ? Soros doesnt have enough leverage against the ChiComs? Just guessing. Competition is my bet .
Here we see the two pillars of George Soros' master plan for the world: (1) tells us that he has no concern for that which is or is not in America's national interest. That is simply because he does not support but rather opposes nationalism. Hence the idea of identifying and supporting America's national interests is anathema to him, but nota bene, America's national interests and George Soros' personal ambitions in this instance coincide.
(2) "Open Society" sounds nice and conventionally "liberal" in the traditional sense of the word as it is still understood in parts of Europe but Soros does not mean the free exchange of ideas rather he means the full propagation of his ideas, of progressive ideas all as outlined in his schema for an "open" society. His support, financial and otherwise, of 501(c)(3) operations in America whose only identifiable purpose is to squelch conservative speech, demonstrates his understanding of an "open" society. The problem with the Chinese social-credit system is not so much that it represents a closed society but that it is not his closed society.
Unlike many leftists who do not have Soros's intellectual candlepower and are ankle biting opportunists who would sellout the country's long-term national security interests for short-term personal political gain, Soros at least recognizes the existential threat posed by China to his interests and, incidentally, to America's interests which he wants to preserve long enough to fully subvert. If the Chinese system takes over, he is out. As Churchill said upon Hitler's invasion of the Soviet Union, "if Hitler invaded Hell I would at least make a friendly reference in the House of Commons to the devil." Hence, Soros renders a backhand complement to Trump.
Is Sorros trying to snake himself an advisory position to Trump, that being said, it is obvious his gay open Society so called is not welcome in China.
He is hoping against ALL hope that this brew ha ha with China will tank the economy and lose the election for Trump that IS the only damn reason he is praising this action by Trump!!! I TOTALLY agree with Trump and standing his ground with China BUT this fight may have consequences with the economy WE are all willing to accept those consequences for the long term goal HOWEVER Soros KNOWS that this fight with China could hurt Trump at election time!!!!!
“Don’t throw me into that brier patch!”
If something is too good to be true, it probably is just that. I smell a rat, a Hungarian rat at that.
Give than the Soros clock is not broken, but actively seeking to be wrong, this would worry me.
Maybe it’s reverse psychology?
Thank you. Explains a lot.
“The problem with the Chinese social-credit system is not so much that it represents a closed society but that it is not his (Soros) closed society.”
He probably shorted that stock.
He tried to destroy Trump and failed
He failed to kill the king and hes trying to make peace to avoid getting his head chopped off
Why do I suspect Soros has a big short on Huawei stock. I can’t picture this dirtbag doing something or saying anything for selfless reasons.
The Hungarians hate his guts.
So do the Israelis.
