Here’s a case of political spin that could only have been delivered tongue in cheek: “Reputable news organizations have concluded there’s nothing here,” a Joe Biden aide explained to Politico amid this week’s bizarre Ukraine eruption.
Except it was two news organizations liberals revere, the New York Times and the New Yorker magazine, that did the most to expose the Biden-Ukraine imbroglio that Tuesday set off a new and apparently more serious Trump impeachment drama. Joe Biden was an Obama point man on Ukraine and may have had perfectly legitimate reasons for demanding Kiev sack an allegedly corrupt prosecutor who was threatening to investigate an allegedly corrupt Ukrainian gas company. greater transforming jolt is coming when details are revealed in coming weeks about the FBI’s and CIA’s roles in promoting the previous theory of Trump criminal collusion with Russia. I suspect most Americans already know where they stand on that.
This may be the week that gives us an election that won’t be the up-or-down vote on Mr. Trump’s fitness that Mr. Biden offers. It will be the election that Mr. Trump wants (and Ms. Warren presumably is prepared to supply), the reprobate vs. the intolerable left-wing agenda. That’s because a House inquiry into Mr. Trump’s Ukraine call can only mean a re-airing of Mr. Biden’s Ukraine laundry too.
Which is quite a trick for the man who began as the chaos candidate. Then again, much of the credit belongs to his opponents. If Democrats and the media really mean what they say about Mr. Trump’s special iniquity, they wouldn’t be using his existence as a bet-the-farm opportunity to squeak into office a policy agenda they normally would hide from the American people around election time.

No, they phased that out. Now, the proper name is just “Ukraine”.
Ukrainians regard the use of the article “the” in front of the name of their country as insulting.
Maybe we should refer to Switzerland as The Switzerland. In German, the name of that country is die Schweiz.
