Hard to believe, but the NY Times gets it right on this. They also mention the political side of this huge fight, now becoming open warfare. This goes back almost 60 years, and back then it just seemed that meat had to be bad for people because it contained fat and cholesterol. Now it has been discovered, by actual science (understanding delivery mechanisms), that carbohydrates are much worse for people and are the real culprits for the obesity/diabetes epidemic. But the flat-earther's hold out, as you can see here...and now they have allies - the environmentalists, who basically want to end the consumption of the healthiest food available to humans - red meat.

get's it right...kind of.

The stupid still seems strong in this one - this appears to be the author's insert.

"The prospect of a renewed appetite for red meat also runs counter to two other important trends: a growing awareness of the environmental degradation caused by livestock production, and longstanding concern about the welfare of animals employed in industrial farming."

LOW CARB / KETO PING!!!

This was posted yesterday evening, but pulled because the poster re-wrote the title (I learned that lesson once myself). So I dug it up and re-posted.

In the UK, they were talking about big taxes on meat, but then it occurred to them that would mean the wealthy would still have their meat, while the masses had, I guess, cake. So now they’re talking about an outright ban on meat (at least on red meat). This has all the politics of the tobacco wars, except much, much bigger, and the sides are flipped - with the people who are supposed be the good guys (Cancer/Heart/Diabetes Societies and governments) trying to prevent people from getting off the carbs that are killing and destroying the lives of many of them.

[p.s., anyone wanting to join, or leave, my Low-Carb ping list, just let me know, privately or publicly]

Where I live (SF Bay Area), I’ve known a lot of young women who purport to be full or part-time vegetarians or vegans. And most of them are perennially sick with colds and other various maladies. I, on the other hand, subsist mainly on steaks and burgers and haven’t have a cold in nearly 3 years. There’s just a tremendous amount of energy and nutrition in meat, and it’s nearly impossible to replicate that in a plant-based diet.

The left hate meat because it comes from cattle ranches. Cattle ranches are run by ranchers. They’re usually conservative Republicans and tough. Live in the country away from the city slickers. The left hates all that so let’s not eat meat. The whole argument is stupid cause there will ALWAYS be a demand for it.

Michaela Peterson, daughter of Jordan Peterson, famously cured herself of agonising auto-immune issues that she had suffered from all her life.

She did this by changing to a diet of only ruminant meat. Basically she eats only beef.

She looks really good.

I never stopped eating hamburgers and Philly steaks. My gut told me they were wrong. Good to have the confirmation.

(You Need Meat) Don’t Go No Further

By Willie Dixon

You need meat
Go to the market
You need bread
Try the bakery
You need lovin’
Look here, baby
I got just what you need
I gotta love somebody
I gotta love somebody
I gotta love somebody
Somebody gonna love me
You need money
Go to the bank, dear
You need honey
Look to the bees
You need lovin’
Come on here, woman
Well, I got just what you need
I wanna love somebody
I gotta love somebody
I gotta love somebody
Somebody gonna love me
Oh, play it now
You need meat
Go to the market
You need bread
Try the bakery
If you need lovin’
Come on here, baby
Well, I got just what you need
I wanna love somebody
Yeah, love somebody
I gotta love somebody
Somebody got to love me
Play your guitar
You need money
Go to the bank, dear
If you need honey
Go find a bee
If you need lovin’
Well I’m your doctor
I’ve got people sick
On what you need
I gotta love somebody
Whoa, love
I wanna love somebody
Somebody gonna love me

This is off topic, but same theme....

Last year I read a dental study that questioned the efficacy of dental floss.

People who do not floss but practice good oral hygiene - annual cleaning, fluoride toothpaste, good brush technique, no tobacco, moderate alcohol - have essentially the same gum health as people who do floss.

I will speculate that people who embrace good health habits concerning weight, tobacco, alcohol, and exercise, probably escape the potential damage from red meat.

Down 10 lbs a month doing KETO. Better BP, blood panels and I don’t feel hungry.

I know that if I consume nothing but alfalfa sprouts and cool spring water I'm gonna die. So if eating red meat...sugar...lard causes me to die I can “live” with that.

Quack diets. Adkins. Keto. Low carb. High carb.

Get your exercise. Keep your weight down. And stop obsessing over the latest kooky fads that emanate from the land of fruits and nuts. Enjoy life. Just not to excess.

Humans need protein. We evolved to eat meat and vegs. Meat is low in fiber and so we need fiber from other sources.

I've been in the meat business for 40 years and knew this was all crap. Gained acceptance much in the same way as anthropogenic global warming.

I have a physician friend a few houses down and he like me agrees that saturated fat is good for you and it's what the body was designed to accommodate....It the modified vegetable and trans fats that are along with soy and a few other items, the real health risks.

I took their advice and immediately added broiled shrimp or fish to my steak dinner. Nothing like a Surf & Turf supper with two green vegetables to bring a satisfying end to a hard day of work.

Thanks for posting. My husband had open heart with 5 bypasses on the 14th. We are constantly lectured about scary red meat.
They clearly do not understand the sources of cholesterol. I wat want proportionately, the same diet as he does... no problems. He has a genetic problem that killed his father before he was 60.
First visit w the thoracic surgeon today. I know this red herring will surface.. carbs will trigger my husbands well controlled diabetes.
I will ask what are precisely the top 2 deadly red meat ingredients.
Eat plants only live forever... insanity.
