Despite Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser declaring the nation's capital a "sanctuary city" for those who violate federal immigration law, one city councilman believes that additional legislation is needed to prevent Immigration and Customs Enforcement from removing illegal aliens from the city.
WTOP reports that Ward Six Councilman Charles Allen has called for an emergency meeting this Tuesday to discuss a new bill that he says would stop all city agencies from cooperating with ICE unless given an explicit court order. This means that local police and other D.C. government officials would be barred from "sharing information with ICE, complying with detainer requests or allowing ICE agents to enter city facilities, such as the jail, juvenile justice facilities and St. Elizabeths Hospital," according to Anagha Srikanth.
D.C. correctional facilities are currently required by law to notify ICE at least 48 hours before releasing an illegal alien from custody. Allen argues that this infringes upon people's liberties.
"The District has a responsibility to ensure that all residents are respected and able to interact with public safety officials without fear of adverse civil immigration action," Allen's bill argues.
Other council members agree with Allen.
"For 2 years I've asked DOC abt its cooperation with ICE because I believe we need to fully live up to our #sanctuarycity status. ICE has long argued that policies like those in D.C. endanger American lives. By ignoring detainer requests, acting New England ICE field director Michael Lyons said last December that law enforcement is "always two steps behind any criminal alien."

If I was in charge, ICE would get a sympathetic judge to issue court orders, either ad hoc or en masse, as needed.
In other venues, I believe this has simply led to ICE making raids on likely public venues.
This action makes their cities less secure and increases invader anxiety.
Leave it to the virtue signalers to throw boomerangs.
Maybe one of these guys in D.C. will need some help from ICE or the P.D. someday. They will need to be reminded that they decided against the rule of law & are on their own.

Cut off federal assistance. Trump should start soap boxing about how Democrat leaders allowing illegal immigration put a strain on city welfare services, making it harder for the poor and minority CITIZENS to get assistance or jobs!
Flood the District with ICE officers … make mass arrests … deport the illegal alien invaders.
A reminder why these people will not get senators.

DC must have the 3rd or 4th highest illegal population in the Nation... (That estimate is based on the "voters" seen getting off the DC bus-loads brought across the line to the MD voting locations...)
It is a pity and shame to watch how lawless people in charge have become and do everything possible to run this once GREAT COUNTRY in to the ground. I would love to call these bastards by a different name not that they don’t deserve it, but most likely it would be rejected by the moderator. Isn’t it enough what they have done and continue to do in Sweden, Germany or Minnesota as well as many other places, by now this certainly should serve as an example of what not to do. Either these people proposing these new laws or restrictions are absolutely brain dead or are hell bent to contribute towards anything what speeds up the destruction of this country.
