They have been at one another's throats there for 3000 plus years. OLD NEWS!

A question: weren’t the Saudis supposed to support the Kurds?

Did Trump assume that the three parties involved (Turks, Syrians and Kurds) would counter balance to the threat each posed upon the other. If that was his expectation I fear it’s a serious misstep.

I hope I’m not seeing a larger picture.

*** No U.S. troops have been withdrawn yet. ***

Apparently, the “Out of Syria” sham means moved to Al-Tanf, and Deir Ezzor.

Can’t we just get the eff out of Syria?

Screw Turkey. Erdogan is an Islamofascist, aligned with Syria and Iran. The Kurds are our allies in a region where we have few.

Turkey ought to be thrown out of NATO. Better yet, NATO ought to be dissolved all together as should the UN!

The Kurds themselves are Sunnis...well, those that are not radical Communists (the PKK). They are not from Syria but took over this area to use as a base, and one of the reasons there are so many Syrian “migrants” is that they were fleeing the Kurds and the resulting destabilization that enabled ISIS to take over. Syrians constitute the largest group of people arriving illegally in Europe.

The Kurds receive lots of money and arms from us, and will continue to do so, but this territorial dispute and establishment of a Kurdish territory in Syria is not something our troops should be involved in. We cleared out ISIS and now it’s up to them to work it out with Turkey and Syria.

Is there any source of accurate information? We have been fed so much garbage I now distrust everything I read. I hate being that way, but have become wary of all news sources.

Have those civilians fought and suffered faithfully alongside our own soldiers for the purpose of having a country like ours someday?

It has been the KURDS who have been the primary benefactors of OUR assistance. WE have been fighting on THEIR soil. It is with our help, our protection, our weapons, our airpower and artillery, our money, that they have taken military and political control of almost all of Syria east of the Euphrates. WE protected THEM from Assad and Putin while they greatly expanded their territory.

Sure, the Kurds helped us accelerate the defeat of ISIS, and helped prevent ISIS from moving into Iraq. But in time, ISIS would have fallen eventually to Syria and Russian forces (at a higher cost to Syria and Russia), as would much of the Kurdish controlled territory in Syria. We have been assisting them for 6 years. Our soldiers are not there to fight for 'Rojava'. Time for them to start finding some political solutions.

I had a dear friend in college that considered herself and extended family to be Kurds and Yazidis. Many family members were gassed to death by Sadam Hussein.

I’ve always thought there was a significant gap between the Rapture & Tribulation. Could be 5 years or more.
Who knows?

I’m sure wondering between Ezekiel 38 and the Tribulation.

President Trump spoke today about what it is like to be with the parents when the cargo plane unloads the bodies of our soldiers from these endless wars. Looks like he almost teared up describing it. Very touching....

All of these groups are sort of stateless. This is actually a legacy of British domination of the area in the early 20th century. When they and international groups drew the boundaries for the modern ME states, they didn’t take into consideration the different population, religious and even language groups.

You don’t get it. Erdogan intends to “ethnically cleanse” the area of Kurds and replace them with Sunni Muslim Islamists. Take THAT to the bank.

Possibly so but they will still be in the minority

“The Kurds ... are not from Syria but took over this area to use as a base...”
******************************************
Don’t know where you’re getting this “information” but it’s wrong. Kurd have been living in areas that became a part of Syria for a very long time.
