This is bull crap. This goes back almost two decades when PG&E wanted to build more power plants to accommodate CA’s increased demand. Protesters were more interested in protecting the environment, so they shut construction down. Years later, during energy shortages, PG&E instituted a policy of “rolling blackouts” where various regions were subject to power outrages for several hours at a time whereupon power was restored while a different area was blacked out. The process was done to ration power during high demand periods. This is the same process, but under the guise of preventing forest fires. Yet another case where Liberals want their cake and eat it too. I’m glad to see this, as it points out the shortsightedness of much of the Liberal agenda.

His point is the middle class, specifically in CA has been dwindling for decades. Most can no longer afford the punitive taxes, punishing regulation$ etc, or those obscenely over-priced cracker box track homes on tiny lots. This isn’t even debatable.

That’s why California’s low wage illegal servant class of millions fit right in and are able to cope...handouts, multiple occupants to homes etc...

Californians have to go without lights, refrigerators, and air-conditioning.

This is not about fire safety. This is PG&S form of revenge. After being blamed for the CalFire, this is PG&Es “screw you” campaign.

“Blame us for the CalFire? OK, we will just shut down power for days on end anytime there is a chance of fire, and you just see what you get.”

And then California outlawed controlled burns because the rich people in the mountains complained to their govt. friends that it was messing up their view of the sunset. But it’s Global-Warming’s fault that their state is charred. Nobody cared until a bunch of Hollywood celebs got burned out of their homes.

Yes, it took me a little while as I don’t follow CA politics, but I see that you are correct.

Frankly I think that they are doing exactly what they should.

If the auto manufacturers, trucking companies and many others would do the same, the libs in CA would soon realize that those companies are a blessing and not the enemy.

The uproar in China is another example.

The NBA should load up their crap and be on the next flight home.

Instead of properly managing California forests to reduce the chances of big fires, Democrats are saying Californians have to go without lights, refrigerators, and air-conditioning.

This is certainly true but it's not just California liberals causing the problems. Several years ago I worked in a job where I assisted foresters (private and govt) on federal issues related to logging. Many of the clearing permits that are issued become held up in court due to lawsuits filed from all over the country. I recall some group in Rhode Island that was constantly suing to stop clearance of dead and dying trees in the Plumas and Lassen National Forests.

CA has over 7 million single family dwellings. 6.5 million of those are middle class priced

I agree the author is guilty of hyperbole using the word squalor, but I bought one of those "middle class priced" California homes that I turned around and sold at a loss a few years later after my neighborhood became increasingly trashed by crime, owner neglect, good houses turned into drug houses, ect.

“California is obviously overpopulated. Maybe they should send ten or twenty milllion Mexicans back.”

Obviously, if we had more immigrants, our country would be better.
Btw, why do the chilangos never seem to immigrate?

If I had to stay in the land of the hammer, cycle and human turds in the streets I would be building me small windmills and a storage system to generate my own electricity and tell the PGE and the commies in the government to stick it.

What can you get for $500K in California? And without a 2 hour commute into a major city for work?

That is insane! That being said my local utility has asked for an increase every other year and the public service commission bends us over without batting an eye. My power goes out at least five times a month from a few minutes to 7-8 hours because of trees. I want to know where the money is going because it sure as hell isn’t going to keeping their right of ways and lines cleared.

About ten years ago the lines going to my house and another had two huge pines on each side. The top of one in a thunderstorm broke and fell above the lines into the top of the other pine across the right of way and road. I called the utility company and told them it needs to be removed it’s dangerous because it is over the lines and the county road to my house. Oh we don’t touch them until they fall. Two weeks later another t-storm and I come home to both pines down, lines everywhere and a massive mess and I called them, told them lines were down and at the end of the call had to say told you so, now it will cost you more $ to clean up. They could have cared less about the money or the aggravation their lazy and unsafe attitude was toward a paying customer.

I bought under $500k in a very nice, established neighborhood in Sacramento. In the midst of an urban forest, with a pool. Single story, 10,000ft lot, established landscaping, 1,880 sq ft, 3bd, 2.5 bath.

Current zestimates put it ever so slightly above $500k.
