California Gov. Gavin Newsom wants PG&E to give $100 to each of the hundreds of thousands of customers who experienced blackouts last week when the company shut off power to swaths of Northern California.
Californians should not pay the price for decades of PG&Es greed and neglect, Newsom announced on Monday. PG&Es mismanagement of the power shutoffs experienced last week was unacceptable. We will continue to hold PG&E accountable to make radical changes prioritizing the safety of Californians and modernizing its equipment.
In a letter to the states Public Utilities Commission on Monday, Newsom confirmed that the state would launch an investigation into PG&Es decision to shut off power and its implementation of the outages that left an estimated 2 million residents and 800,000 customers without electricity.

Said cost is tacked onto everyone’s electric bill
That's exactly what Chicago is trying to do. I'm NOT kidding.
Newsom signed the bill requiring the utility companies to do shut https://www.sfchronicle.com/california-wildfires/article/Newsom-signs-22-wildfire-related-laws-from-14487057.php
He also signed the bill requiring the shut offs. Post #63
Yeah! Bankruptcy and collapse.
"practical joke"
Gosh I'm slow with jokes sometimes.
$100 wouldn’t get Gavin a haircut...
Thanks sheana.
Moving to PA?
Our Governor Tommie (”the Commie”) Wolf is only a c-nt hair to the right of Newsome.
“Does that include the old man who dies when his oxygen supply cut off due to no electric?”
His battery operated oxygen machine kept working. The power outage had nothing to do with his death.
According to autopsy.
” Bankruptcy seems to be looming. “
They are already in Federal bankruptcy court.
And I cannot see that judge agreeing to taking on any additional costs/expenses...especially the frivolous ones.
I wouldn’t say “nothing” (to do with)...he had back-up oxygen but was asleep at 3am when the power got cut...had the power not got cut (or cut during daylight like my mother’s was 20 miles away) then he would be alive today.
[Newsome needs to get it into his skull that this is going to end up as a state bailout giving away cash now is insane.]
Why stop there commie...make them pay a million dollars to each customer.
The outrage is pointed at PG&E, but our government is not held liable in any way, shape or form. And, too many Californians are ready to follow his lead.
Precisely.
Dems are blame artists, and newsom is no different.
This is the marching of PGE through the streets in order to shift blame away from the Dems' refusal to manage the forests responsibly.
So is he trying for a state takeover of PG and E?
Steps on the way to full socialism?
I was kind of wondering about how/why someone would rely on the grid for their oxygen. All I’ve seen is people with tanks which are pressurized and have a regulator and have no need for electric. The exception is those in hospitals but those people don’t even have lungs operational.
So much fakenews or rushedNews. Clicks and having the story first are more important than accuracy these days.
PG&E was forced to divert funds for proper maintenance of their Grid by the State of California. These funds were diverted to wind and solar and thus their grid fell into poor repair. Due to these edicts by California fires happened.
The brilliant governor of California now demands that PG&E compensate their customers with money. How in the hell do you compensate a customer if the customer is the one paying the bill to PG&E which is now effectively bankrupt. In effect he is saying you will be compensated from what you pay the electric company. Thus you are compensating yourself.
Governor Newsom is not an idiot. He is a charlatan liar.
Why not a million each?
Yeah! Bankruptcy and collapse.
I will leave it to others to guess at the ultimate outcome my only prediction is that at some point the situation will change.
