Lousiana GOP Sen. John Kennedy has blocked a bill drafted by a top Democratic Senator that would accelerate the flow of Indian visa workers and immigrants into Americans office jobs.
The American people deserve an immigration system that looks like somebody designed it on purpose, Kennedy told Democrat Sen. Dick Durbin during a polite conversation on the Senate floor. He said:
I am rising to object [to Durbins bill] because a number of my colleagues would like a little additional time to study this bill. But equally important, if not more important, many of my colleagues sentiment is that we should take this bill up first in the judiciary committee.
Kennedys October 16 objection blocked Durbins effort to pass his RELIEF Act via the Senates fast-track Unanimous Consent process.
Durbins RELIEF Act would double the annual award of green cards given to the cheap foreign workers who are hired by American companies for jobs in the United States. It would double the annual inflow to 120,000 workers by exempting their immediate families from the annual cap. The bill would also lift the annual country caps and so allow companies to annually reward roughly 100,000 Indian visa-workers with valuable, government-provided green-cards, up from 10,000 Indian workers a year under the current rules.
The touted virtue of the Durbin bill is that it would reduce the population of 300,000 Indian visa-workers who mostly work for below-market wages while waiting for years to get their promised Employer-Based green cards.
This so-called backlog population of 300,000 workers and 300,000 family members gets much sympathetic coverage from American progressives. But the backlog was created by the crush of Indians who accepted green-card nominations from companies in a barter payment for taking jobs, salaries, and careers that would otherwise have gone to American graduates. Perhaps if we need them but if we don’t?
They’re going to be all over that man.
Did he have a very bad customer service experience ? LOL
Thank you Senator Kennedy!
(never thought I’d say those words)
With all the things broken in the USA, this is what our do-nothing Senate decides to work on?
Kennedy is a true American patriot.
No, not the Kennedy burning in hell right now..
Replacement Migration is the Neo Slavery.
We NEED none of them FOREIGNERS. There has not been a single Replacement Immigrant we have needed in 50 years.
Each sector of the economy is targeted with half price foreigners who all vote hardcore socialist.
Doctors, nurses, office, mechanics, teachers, all of you,
just GET OFF THIS LAND !!! You vagrant!
We Chamber of Socialist Commerce OWN this land, not you!
WE are the new royalty.
India, the greasy afterbirth of humanity.
FOLLOW THE MONEY
Who in the GOP is pushing this? I know the Chamber of Commerce is likely advancing this, but who else?. Lee from Utah? and...?
Amazing, somebody besides President Trump is siding with the citizens.
I’ll have to remove him from my list of Bush League Republicans.
This John Kennedy is a true son of the South ... and every inch a patriot.
I’m crazy for Indian food, and on an individual basis I rather like Indian immigrants.
But Anytown USA isn’t Mumbai or New Delhi ... or Shanghai or Singapore for that matter. And these are the non-Islamic parts of Asia.
I wish Asian nations all the health and prosperity life has to offer but I don’t want my country’s tech industry turning into Bangalore.
Why bring them here?
IMHO, both these bill are worthless. We need fewer immigrants, not more. Again IMHO, we could shutdown all immigration (legal and illegal) for the next 20 years and be ahead for it.
I don’t need more H1Bs. I know too many American engineers who have lost their jobs to these employment roaches.
a Kennedy giveth
and a Kennedy taketh away
(read your history books if you don’t get it)
Thank goodness. We need to end this system of modern day indentured servitude and send the flood of cheap labor back. Large Corporations and their lapdog politicians have screwed over Americans far too much with cheap foreign labor already.
