That you did. Didn’t Trump offer a while ago to help Mexico out with their drug wars?
Mexico is the last place I would go on vacation.
I loved the section of the 80s movie “Against All Odds” set in Mexico and the movie made me want to visit all those places. I never did, and I now have no desire to set foot anywhere in Mexico. Too dangerous.
Naw ! Just this week, 31 member of the cartel were arrested with drugs, money, grenade launchers,
and other drug paraphernalia in a couple of Mexico City raids earlier this week.
The suspects were all arrested in close proximity while police held a coordinated raid.
After a court appearance, a local judge released 27 of the 31 arrested, citing misinformation
conflicting reports, etc., etc.
President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has lost control of the country due to intimidation.

The cartels are openly driving armored vehicles armed with RPGs and .50 caliber machineguns.
They are freely attacking Mexican Army troops and local police.
The cartels have known and heavily weaponized garrisons that could be attacked by air strikes.
The Mexican government has chosen to tolerate all of this.
The cartels will not be stopped by the Mexican government.
A friend’s shirt tail relatives live in northern Mexico, young couple and 3 toddlers. They decided to take their nice 4WD truck up to the border to see somebody. On the way narco’s or some other bad guys pulled them over, dumped them all by the side of the road (in the desert) and took the truck. The family was told “The only reason we didn’t kill you all was because of the kids.” And they had to walk hours into the nearest town.
Other Mexican friends have told similar stories, of relatives disappearing, unsafe travel ... we can’t even imagine.
I can see why they want to come to the US but don’t like them just showing up with their hands out.
None of our Hispanic friends are on welfare. All extremely hard workers and proud of being that way. I think if Mexico was lawful and peaceful they’d go back. Most of them do NOT like northern winters!
Mexico needs a Pinochet.
Briefly?

We lived in eastern Washington 30 years ago. The police chief told me, then, that drug smugglers would grab illegals crossing the border and threaten them - ‘Either you carry these drugs to my drop-off in eastern Washington, etc., or we’ll turn you in.” They would just do it rather than face the cartels, of course. Could only be worse now.
Mexican friends went back to visit their family. They were stopped in the middle of the night, stripped naked, and left by the side of the road. The bad guys took their car. Left them alive bc they were Mexican, perhaps.
I lived in Mexico City after high school, and have traveled all over the country. I have not been there since 1990 tho, and have no desire to return. Ever. It used to be beautiful. We’d camp down Baja, just on the beach. etc. No way, no more.
