Unless there is more to this story, the waitress needs to be fired, too.

They’re called Massholes for a reason! That said, sorry...anyone can vote with their feet. I don’t feel sorry for anyone who voluntarily lives in Yankeeland.

I would not live in the $#!t hole commie state. Where are the lawyers lining up to sue the city of disenfranchisement of his rights?

A waitress at the restaurant overheard the conversation and reported Nichols to the police two days later as potentially threatening the school.

She's an idiot.

"Ironically, it was Nichols’s concern for those kids that caused him to run afoul of Chief Saloio."

What the heck is ironic about that?

The man simply stood up for what is right and called out a bad thing that was happening.

Chief Saloio is an empowered bully. Fire him.

NRA is monitoring the situation? They should be up there getting his rights back today. What the hell are they doing, Isn’t that part of why we join that organization?
I would interview whom ever did that to him and bring charges against them. This shit has to stop!!!!!

True that.

I read the post and that's all I see mentioned about the waitress who caused all of this. Real reporters would dig to find out why she reported Nichols and why the police didn't just talk to him to get the story straight. Nope! Considered guilty by the police even before they talked to him!

Article mentions he had been with the Tisbury police. Does the Chief have an ongoing beef with this Nichols? Does the waitress who reported him think he's a bad tipper?

A lot more to this story than this article...

The waitress should be fired for this incident, due to the effect on the restaurant’s customer.

That cheif needs to be Fired and Arrested for Theft. Also he needs to take a Course on the Constitution and Pay a HUGE FINE for what he did. The IDIOTSTICK !!!

The waitress needs her ears cleaned out with solvent and q-tips. AND sent to a Training Class on not eavesdropping and if she does make sure she UNDERSTANDS the conversation she’s listening to. DAMNED BUSYBODY !!!

Even if it goes in the vet’s favor it’ll be years before he gets his guns back - at least those the cops didn’t want for themselves that mysteriously went missing.

Part of the reason I escaped. (to Maine, but still...)

Mass is a “may issue” state, putting incredible power in the hands of the police chiefs. When I was in Boston, I had to take a safety course, qualify at the police range, be photographed and fingerprinted like a criminal, and I STILL wasn’t allowed to carry because I needed a REASON. Adios muff huggers.

“He acknowledged that one of his restaurant employees “overreacted” to what was said. “

This reminds me of the incident a couple weeks ago where someone at a school reported a man with a gun.
SWAT response and lockdown of several schools resulted in the cops confiscating a blue, yellow and orange Nerf gun from a local resident.

Because there was no proven justification for depriving Nichols of his legally owned firearms, commentators are citing the situation as a cautionary tale against “red flag" firearm seizure laws.

BUMP
