I read the post and that's all I see mentioned about the waitress who caused all of this. Real reporters would dig to find out why she reported Nichols and why the police didn't just talk to him to get the story straight. Nope! Considered guilty by the police even before they talked to him!
Article mentions he had been with the Tisbury police. Does the Chief have an ongoing beef with this Nichols? Does the waitress who reported him think he's a bad tipper?

Mass is a “may issue” state, putting incredible power in the hands of the police chiefs. When I was in Boston, I had to take a safety course, qualify at the police range, be photographed and fingerprinted like a criminal, and I STILL wasn’t allowed to carry because I needed a REASON. This reminds me of the incident a couple weeks ago where someone at a school reported a man with a gun.
SWAT response and lockdown of several schools resulted in the cops confiscating a blue, yellow and orange Nerf gun from a local resident.
And now everyone can see how Red Flag laws will be used.
