Newsome will rise again in 2024. He (& his aunt Nancy P.) have the California money interests in their pocket. They are sitting out 2020 (a fool’s errand against Trump) and will have a sizeable war-chest of money to buy the Dem nomination in 2024.

I’m just wondering how well the little forest creatures are protected when a wildfire is raging through their habitat at 50 mph?

It would be a lot biggger deal if its -20 outside! Thats for damn sure
That’s normally when we lose power for 5 to 10 days at a clip. Not -20 maybe but 0 f. Not fun but most of us get by. I muse a little bit at people totally unprepared to live without modern “conveniences”. Have that attitude here or somewhere like Alaska, be prepared to freeze to death in the dark.

No, PG&E is regulated by the Public Utilities Commission, its members appointed by the governor.
You didn't get the crux of my comments.

The tiny house was for the construction phase while JerryB was still in office.
The "retirement home" is more along the lines of an upscale dwelling. Oddly, I think it has a boomerang shape.
Notice the defensible space in anticipation of a wild fire.

Yours is a common-sense response to the situation.

Thoreau’s “Self Reliance” is the key.
Nobody reads nowadays.

Thoreau’s book about Walden Pond was very much about self-reliance.
But the famous essay “Self-Reliance” was written by Emerson.
(Some of us read, but I agree it has become rare.)

Thanks...it has been four decades since I read those classics.
Time for a refresher.

I got rid of my chainsaw, or Id help you. Fired up that bad boy today and in less than fifteen minutes cut at least two days of firewood "thanks" to the Halloween severe thunderstorms that toppled a dead locust (wonderful, hot burning "six hour" logs!) and some big ash limbs.
