SOUTH RIDING, Va. — Not long ago, this rolling green stretch of Northern Virginia was farmland. Most people who could vote had grown up here...they usually chose Republicans.
The fields of Loudoun County are disappearing. In their place is row upon row of cookie-cutter townhouses, clipped lawns and cul-de-sacs — a suburban landscape for as far as the eye can see. Unlike three decades ago, the residents are often from other places, like India and Korea. And when they vote, it is often for Democrats.
“Guns, that is the most pressing issue for me,” said Vijay Katkuri, 38, a software engineer from southern India, explaining why he voted for a Democratic challenger in Tuesday’s elections. He was shopping for chicken at the Indian Spice Food Market. “There are lots of other issues, but you can only fix them if you are alive.”
Mr. Katkuri’s vote — the first of his life — helped flip a longtime Republican State Senate district and deliver the Virginia statehouse to the Democratic Party for the first time in a generation... But while political leaders come and go, the deeper, more lasting force at work is demographics.
Once the heart of the confederacy, Virginia is now the land of Indian grocery stores, Korean churches and Diwali festivals. The state population has boomed — up by 38 percent since 1990, with the biggest growth in densely settled suburban areas like South Riding. One in 10 people eligible to vote in the state were born outside the United States, up from one in 28 in 1990. It is also significantly less white. In 1990, the census tracts that make up Mr. Katkuri’s Senate district were home to about 35,000 people — 91 percent of them white. Today, its population of 225,000 is just 64 percent white.

I grew up in Loudoun County. If you dropped me in Arcola today, I’d think I was on Mars.
So glad we got the hell out of there fifteen years ago. It’s gone.
I have direct experience with northern Virginia. I am a refugee from that area. The Indian migration into this country is worst than Hispanic. Once they get here, they completely destroy the economy of an area. They low ball every business, real estate transaction, and school district. They are racist. They do not like other groups of Indians from other parts of India.
Their whole thought process is to get something (awards, STEM, music) for little work. Indian women actually do more work than the men. Most of the men “work from home”. LAZY... People that had businesses in NOVA have packed up and left. What you have is a liberal hell hole.
Take a look at the senators supporting H1B visas. Money going into their pocket from India.

Soros’ money did it.
So the Times found somebody whose vote was influenced greatly by guns. I wonder if this person (and other similar minded individuals) may ultimately be persuaded by the reality of regardless of how many costly and intrusive and ineffective gun control measures Democrats pass, they will not stop the tragic and criminal misuse of firearms. And perhaps they will encounter a situation in which they wish that they were armed.

I moved from Manassas to Indiana in 2011. The liberal invasion had been going on since the early 90s...Yankee carpetbaggers, foreigners of all types ( remember a number of the 9-11 terrorists resided in Virginia ).
It’s a shame that the rest of the state is being held hostage by northern VA.

Used to be they wanted to become Americans, live like us, be like us, blend in (for the most part).
But, D’rats co-opted them with welfare, entitlements, school benefits, amnesty...they just have to vote and keep voting D.
Democrats (and their lawyers) have hurt America so very much, in so many ways. They lied to blacks about their concern. They removed God from our land and replaced Him with queerness. They twisted and confused our women. They lowered our standards. They cheat on elections. They’ve hurt the future for our kids and grandkids.
American kids go to school to learn only about communism, and that black lives matter....
You may be missing the point; Vijay was trafficked here BECAUSE he comes from a culture with no history of private ownership of arms. The WASP culture that made this country great has been undermined since the 1960s by suppressing its numbers (mostly voluntarily, under the guise of “reproductive rights”) and importing hordes of Third World peasants who will accept bare sustenance lifestyles in exchange for surrendering any rights guaranteed by our forefathers. The real kicker is the subsidizing of our imported underclass by taxing Americans; that convinces many they can’t afford to reproduce.
The same plan worked well here in NJ; the county just north of me added a new language to all government communications (ballots and such): Korean.
Democracts are equally if not more corrupt as a group. But it is the one-party rule by Republicans that did them in here, thinking they can get away with anything.
I’m not giving up on them either; my point is that they are filling living space formerly occupied by Americans, and those Americans had a core set of beliefs that aren’t shared by most foreigners (even if they vote Republican). Too many will vote Republican for their pockets without a thought to gun control and such.

Been a long time since the D.C. suburb has been deep red - the pollution of increasing numbers of leftist wankers ensured Virginia’s demise.
I’m thinking that you’re about 100% correct. We could both be wrong, obviously. However, at some point, either he or his parents came here and took advantage of the system. We’d have to hear him talk to know for sure.
