A Canadian broadcast company fired Cherry after a rant on television in which he said new immigrants are not honoring the country's fallen soldiers.
TORONTO — Don Cherry, Canada's most polarizing, flamboyant and opinionated hockey commentator, was fired Monday for calling immigrants "you people" in a television rant in which he said new immigrants are not honoring the country's fallen soldiers.
Rogers Sportsnet President Bart Yabsley announced the decision in a statement following discussions with the 85-year-old broadcaster.
"It has been decided it is the right time for him to immediately step down," Yabsley said. "During the broadcast, he made divisive remarks that do not represent our values or what we stand for."
Cherry derided immigrants by saying, "You people ... you love our way of life, you love our milk and honey, at least you can pay a couple bucks for a poppy or something like that," Cherry said Saturday night. "These guys paid for your way of life that you enjoy in Canada, these guys paid the biggest price."
The tradition of wearing poppies in Canada honors the country's war dead on Remembrance Day, which was observed Monday.

Of course, the libs blew a gasket over these comments and Snyder was fired for essentially, speaking an uncomfortable truth. Plantation owners wanted bigger stronger slaves capable of doing better work so they did "breed" slaves to try to get superior physical specimens.
Cherry spoke an unpopular truth and, like Snyder, it cost him his job.

There was a time when every self-respecting man with a pair in working order, who lived in an English speaking country, wore a red poppy in his lapel on November 11.
Also, his remarks were inflated to hold meanings that he might not have intended, when he berated “you people” who don’t show the respect (widespread in Canada as in the UK) on Remembrance Day of wearing a poppy. The p.c. media decided that “you people” must be a reference to immigrants but it could include native born “hosers” who choose not to show any respect for the wartime sacrifices.
Cherry will likely be back after a suitable time out in the sin bin.
I’m with Don Cherry. It has been Canada’s far left policies that have let in Marxist and Jihadist scum to spoil Canada, and with the leadership of the Canadian liberals/leftists, they are accomplishing this spoliation very effectively.
Kind of like a cleansing fire that they step off into.

They are silencing the opposition, but as Trump’s election showed, we aren’t lying down.
On top of that, they are just widening the gulf between peoples; a thought crime won’t pass through your lips if you don’t speak to certain hypersensitive people looking to pounce.
