“I’ve been in the meat business since graduating from college, 40+ years.
And let me be the first to declare that this article is unmitigated BULLSH!T!”

Well, my wife is a Veterinarian of 32 years and when she started her practice she needed money so she moonlighted working as a inspector for our state inspecting meat packing plants and she told me all the horror stories.

Outright filth in plenty of places she had shut down or wrote up.

P.S. She is not a vegan, animal rights wackjob or liberal.

Ever seen a Bell curve?
Ever known what assignments are given to “newbies”?
Yeah, there are some sleazy operators in every business.

I don’t know about the small Mom and Pop neighborhood slaughter/processing plants. But I’ve worked for 2.3rds of the majors over the years ie. Smithfield, IBP, Tyson, Routh, Swift etc. etc. and you could eat off the floor.

I’ve been through these facilities top to bottom and I have absolutely no problem eating any meat from any of the major’s PERIOD!

I have been in several dozen different plants over the years and have never seen a vet shut one down. Occasionally they’ll be excess condensation for example or some accumulated dust on an overhead beam something real minor and they hold the cut/kill for an hour or so while it is corrected but that’s about it.

BTW the old adage about hot dogs being lips, tit’s and a$$holes is an old wives tale. Maybe 70 years ago but not today. Hot dogs are made from pork, beef and sometimes chicken “trimmings” It’s all 80-90% lean and the pork and beef usually comes from the cheek and jowl area.
