A former adviser to President George W. Bush has proposed a way for Senate Republicans to remove President Trump from office while avoiding accountability from angry Republican voters.
Juleanna Glover is a veteran Washington hostess, lobbyist, and strategist who has worked on the staffs of Bush, former Vice President Dick Cheney, and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Glover also advised Republican Arizona Sen. John McCain during his 2008 presidential run.
Glover, 50, a longtime Trump critic who supported independent candidate Evan McMullin in 2016, proposed a strategy for Senate Republicans to oust Trump should the House follow through with impeaching the president. In an article for Politico, Glover wrote that a handful of outgoing Republicans could take all the political heat and force the Senate to adopt a secret vote on the articles of impeachment passed in the House.

This plan would be so secret that no one would even have proof of who actually voted for it. They would only have the final tally that said that everyone did.
Article I: “and the Yeas and Nays of the Members of either House on any question shall, at the Desire of one fifth of those Present, be entered on the Journal.”
You need 20 Senators to require a public vote, if secrecy has been imposed.
Elections are by secret ballot. Votes in Congress are different.

Every Republican in Congress would be voted out, House and Senate, and they would deserve it.
They do stuff like voice votes and unanimous consent, but voting in secret without recording the votes is a horse of another color.
So let me get this straight. The Anons on 4chan and 8chan are full of it and to be ignored at all cost but the Anons in impeachment are to be believed without question.
The GOP Senate members would be doing this as their final living act.

To Williams: There would be a lot of negative media coverage stating that it was right and just, plus most voters would not notice.
Well I would agree it would be a tipping point l really think all hell would break loose if they tried this. I just wondered about the legal question. I wonder how many Rino’s have the attitude that we will be mad but we’ll get over it and accept Pence because where else are we going to go? They will be in for hell surprise when we drag their asses out of the Capital and burn it to the ground.
Even though jury deliberations are conducted in secret, the defense has the right to have the judge poll the jurors in public as to how they voted on each count.
So only 20 Senators can force it to be public if they try this BS? Hmm does Trump have that many he can rely on? Sad that is even in doubt.

My understanding is that each house of Congress has total authority to set its own rules. The Senate could adopt a rule allowing for the vote after an impeachment trial to be by a secret ballot, with only the number voting to convict or acquit being reported, but not who voted which way. I’m not a lawyer or a parliamentarian, so I could easily be wrong, but I think a rule can be adopted by a mere majority vote. Assuming all the Democrats (45) vote for the secret vote rule and the 2 Independents also vote that way, it would take 4 Republicans to force the adoption of the rule. I assume the vote on the rule would be a recorded roll call.
