Two-thirds of battleground state voters who chose Trump in 2016 but selected Democrats in the midterms say they will return to the president next year.
Midterm victories in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin gave Democrats hope of retaking the Rust Belt battleground states that handed the presidency to Donald J. Trump in 2016.
Yet success in the midterms might not mean as much for Democratic presidential candidates as the party might think. Nearly two-thirds of voters in six battleground states who voted for President Trump in 2016 but for Democratic congressional candidates in 2018 say they intend to back the president against each of his top rivals, according to recent polling by The New York Times Upshot/Siena College.
The results suggest that the partys winning formula in last years midterms may not be so easy to replicate in a presidential election. The Democrats relatively moderate House candidates succeeded in large part by flipping a crucial segment of voters who backed the president in 2016. If these voters remain open-minded again in 2020, Democrats will have a ready-made blueprint for winning back the crucial Rust Belt battlegrounds.
This group is only a sliver of the electorate 2 percent of registered voters and is not representative of all voters. They are overwhelmingly white, 60 percent are male, and two-thirds have no college degree. But the presidents strength among them helps explain why he is highly competitive in states that Democrats carried just one year ago.

Its fully understandable once you realize a full third of this country is dangerously delusional.
How will the key demographic of the dead vote?
These are the people who have kept the lights on in this nation. They have fought our wars, farmed our land to provide food for the world, built and maintained our homes, roads, bridges and infrastructure. Engineers design, but our strong men and women who know how to work do the scut work part. I am guessing that they are among the 40% or so who are still married to their first wives. Most have children and know what gender they are and are happy about it. Trump has worked with this kind of person his whole life and they feel that he is one of them. They are right. He is increasingly loved by real Americans because the past 3 1/2 years of abuse from the wealthy, political elites prove that he is willing to hang in there, even if it means being sacrificed on the alter of CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, the Washington Post and the NYTimes. Trump now knows, first hand, that the Deep State does exist and, like every past enemy of this great nation, must be defeated for the sake of survival of it's people and it's future generations. I think, on this Thanksgiving, we can be thankful for President Trump, for the ages likely will look back on him as a transformative figure who turned America back from the abyss.
I think they had to take one last look at Democrats in 2018 and yeah, they are still nuts.
Back to Trump.
Hopefully “massive meltdown” will mean “massive suicides”. These leftists are malignancies upon civil societies everywhere.
Leftists are lunatics. Understand the mentally deranged and you understand leftists.
Serious question - does anybody personally know a single person who voted for Trump and intends to vote against him next time?
Both sides vastly underestimate the number of eligible voters that care like they do, at least enough to vote about it one way or the other. The eligible voters that choose not to vote have outnumbered the turnout of either political party for 100+ years. The true horror of the situation is that supposedly the dumbest 10% of eligible voters that somehow manage to vote actually decide all presidential elections, the swing voters.
If thats true, elections arent contests between opposing political philosophies, but contests determined by whomever is able to sway the swayable voters who have no guiding political philosophy. The result could be good or bad, con or lib, but invariably it wasnt determined by informed voters voting based on a considered political philosophy. It was supposedly determined by the swayable voters voting on non-rational reasons like who the media said won a debate or if the candidate looks like them or whatever.
Freegards
They swallowed the Russian collusion lies hook, line and sinker. They Voted for the Rats in 2018 because of it.
Now they know they were lied to.
