However, by telling your story, you can probably convince some people not to do what you did. Given the extremely high transsexual suicide rate, you might save some lives.

She came to realize, however, that these treatments were not evidence of self-acceptance. Indeed. The root of much "gender dysphoria" is a profound unhappiness with oneself to the point of wanting to become someone else. Treating that unhappiness would be a lot better than surgically mutilating these people.
