Officials are searching for a motive in the Pearl Harbor shooting that left two civilian employees dead and a third injured before the gunman took his own life.
The shooter has only been identified as an active-duty US sailor whose submarine was docked at the shipyard near Honolulu.
Rear Adm. Robert Chadwick, commander of Navy Region Hawaii, said he didn’t know the motive behind the shooting Wednesday.
“We have no indication yet whether they were targeted or if it was a random shooting,” Chadwick said.
Gunfire broke out around 2:30 p.m. at the base, which hosts both the Navy and Air Force, and three days before the 78th anniversary of the 1941 Japanese surprise attack on Pearl Harbor that left more than 2,400 US service members dead.
The sailor was assigned to the fast attack submarine USS Columbia, which is at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam for maintenance.

There is still no name of the shooter or motive.
I won't say there is a media blackout but the coverage has been muted.
Submarine life has set a few folks off their rocker.
We had a few attempeted suicides while in port, nobody lost it tooo bad at sea. it was always in port. and no murders or shootings.
No, they are looking for a suitable cover story that won't make any officials look bad. If they stall long enough, the story will fade away.
Check back in a month and see if there is any new information. I would bet that there will be nothing.
Shooting is a sport. Murder using a firearm is not.

When they won’t release the shooter’s name, it usually starts with an “M.”
IMO, most logical explanation is that the victims are the shooters wife/girlfriend and the person she was having an affair with while the shooter was at sea. No way of knowing for sure until the investigation is complete, but that would be my first guess.
Never mind...the story at Heavy.com says it was three men that got shot.
