This makes the seventh CONSECUTIVE year that the folks responsible for the vaccine formulation have been DEAD WRONG.
Yet it is still strongly recommended that you get the shot EVEN THOUGH IT IS KNOWN TO BE WRONG!
Is there not a serious disconnect between “get the shot” and “the shot targets the wrong strain but get it anyway”? Yet AGAIN!
I am required to get a shot or wear a mask (a newer requirement) where I work.
I am still experiencing side-effects that coincide with the shot I got on October 22 2018.
I am well aware that correlation and coincidence are most decidedly NOT causation, but I have no fewer than FIVE health issues that rather conveniently are closely related to the time and date of my last (EVER!!) flu shot.
Bursitis and weight gain are the two least disturbing.
My dental hygienist, dentist, and (new) periodontist are all confused and concerned.
Nothing has tasted right since shortly after the shot.
My honest thoughts:
Wear a mask and wash your hands. If you LOOK at something, wash your hands. touch, wash, smell, wash.
DO NOT TOUCH YOUR FACE before washing your hands.
I will NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER get another flu shot.
I was one year LATE with that decision.
Screw your flu and the useless vaccine you rode in with!

I may have had a flu shot in the distant past. I can’t say, but I’ll guess it’s been over 50 years at least.
I’m still here! I do take vitamin supplements, and gave up almost all sugar. No cancer causing sugar substitutes either.
NO SODA.
I’d rather take my chances on getting the flu, (considering my good health and nutrition) than trust some unknown “scientists” who NEVER get the vaccine right.
So the odds are that the vaccine won’t work and more likely could injure or kill me! Is that a gamble worth taking!?

I’m in the Mid-Cities area of the DFW Metro.
I’ve been trying to get my elderly flu shot for two months, but I keep being told they are out, it’s on back order and they don’t know when it may be available. Why?
The flu shot for the elderly protects against 4 expected virus strains (vs. 3 for regular shots) and is 4 times as strong.
I’ve gotten those shots since they were available many years ago and have never had even a bad cold.

All interesting. After my last flu shot, I got bursitis, although I didn’t even know what it was until I saw a doctor.
And about touching your face — absolutely true. Especially don’t touch your eyes, mouth, or nose — any orifice. My husband hasn’t been sick with cold or flu since he stopped biting his nails.
And, if your church has a “handshake times”, either don’t go during flu season, dart off to another room during that time, or slather your hands with some kick-ass hand sanitizer after it. And don’t touch any surface there. I got pneumonia twice after playing piano when a sickie had played it before I did. (I didn’t know they had been sick until after the fact.)
Part of the immunity of elderly to flu viruses could also be due to the fact that we grew up in the 1940-50’s. We were allowed to play outside in the dirt, run behind the trucks fogging our neighborhood with DDT, going barefoot without shirts and only cut-off old jeans. Lots of bleeding from minor scrapes and cuts. Lots of Vitamin D from Sunshine! We had measles, mumps and others that helped to build our immunity to many things
Then along came the “helicopter” and “soccer” moms who wont
even let their kids walk a few blocks or a mile to school.
I used to get the flu EVERY winter going through school and be extremely sick for a week or two.
The last time was the winter of ‘83-’84 and I’ve NEVER had the flu since then.
I’ve never had a flu shot and never will.
I figure I am likely immune to the flu versions I had then.
But I am a big vitamin D3 believer also and take lots of it all winter, and bump it up a bit more when I’m going to be around crowds of people.

Vitamin D can make people in my family (mom and sister - I don’t take it) very nauseous. Is that a typical reaction? If so, how do you deal with it?
I had a cute, Black nurse tell me that after reading the article below she took vitamin D, got sick and quit taking it. This is the only report I've ever heard of anyone getting sick.

If you take high doses of vitamin D, be sure to take vitamin K2 with it.

I've taken (at least) 10,000 IU of vitamin D3 a day since reading that article in 2006. The VA had me on 50,000 IU a day at one point.
Tried that . All I got was the blues. :-)
