…Whakaari / White Island is an active andesite stratovolcano, situated 48 km (30 mi) from the east coast of the North Island of New Zealand, in the Bay of Plenty. It is New Zealand’s most active cone volcano, and has been built up by continuous volcanic activity over the past 150,000 years.[1] The nearest mainland towns are Whakatane and Tauranga. White Island has been in a nearly continuous stage of releasing volcanic gas at least since it was sighted by James Cook in 1769.

Spectacular sight of the earth releasing a huge amount of heat and “pollution”. Yet it is happening every day mostly in deep oceans in the form of underwater large and small volcanoes and innumerable “smokers”. The relative activity of earths release of the enormous store of core energy may be the prime cause of glacier shrinkage or growth as well as variants in ambient surface temperatures. So far scientists have no good “gauge” to measure the rate or volume of earth core energy release.

When Mt. Saint Helens erupted it sent temperatures down in the area by 2 degrees on average for a while. I wonder if the Climate Change people will try to suppress temperature measurement from the area. After all, to then a half a degree is a cause for trillions in spending.
