The incredible Gary Sinise flies 1,000 Gold Star kids to Disney World for Christmas and their surviving parents

There are few things in this world you can count on, and few of them are salutary. I can think of only three, two of which are horrible. Those are death and taxes.

As for positives, I can think of one: the overwhelming goodness of Gary Sinise.

Sinise, probably best known for his role as Lt. Dan in "Forrest Gump," has long worked with veterans and veterans groups, such as flying veterans to the National World War II Museum to tell their stories or serving them Thanksgiving dinner.

Over 1000 Gold Star Children travel w/ surviving parent, 1,750 in all, via @americanair to Disney World today as part of our @GarySiniseFound Snowball Express program. This charter left LAX this morning. I’ll join up in a few days. Have fun kids! We love you!

He is a good man. His relationship with our troops is like that of Bob Hope. He has earned the mantle of Bob Hope and few men are worthy of this. Gary Sinise is most worthy.

...

If they are already in LA why didn’t they go to Disneyland?

I guess that Disney World is bigger and better with more places to stay.

Hmmm. Probably. Been to both. The original in ‘56 and the last time we went to Disney World (even though we lived 45 minutes away) was probably 1998 or so. You couldn’t give me season passes to either now.

Absolutely. The whole Orlando/Lake Buena Vista area is centered around and caters to the Disney and Universal attractions. Lots of options.

And the homeless are not out your doorstep either.

Plus - although money still going to Disney, I’d rather it spread to Desantis’ Florida than Newsom’s California nutstate.

We cannot re-create the American Mid-West in the Middle East.

“It’s allllll worth it, if can build GIRLS SCHOOLS outside the peaks around Kabul...!”

Oh yeah? To whom is it WORTH it...? To those with no kids doing it.

It is a PIPE DREAM.

“We’re fighting them THERE, so we don’t have to fight them HERE..!”

The assumption built into that is that we LET THEM IN.

In fact, that is a CHOICE and we have been making the wrong choice.

Simply KEEP THEM OUT.

I love Gary Sinise, being of Italian descent, I am thrilled to acknowledge him as a GREAT Guy.

As we all have something that spoils the perfect picture for those observing us, I am a little disappointed in the fact that Gary made known, although not vociferously, that he did not like President Trump “insulting” John McCain

We are all familiar with the McCain saga, and I just wish Sinise would consider the FACTS about McCain’s post Military behavior.

I still love him though.

Yup! Speaking of Disney, just for grins, I found this article from ‘the daily beast’ this morning about the Disney planned town of “Celebration” that was put together around 1995. We lived in the area and when I first saw the proposals my first thought was “Who would want to live there?”. Apparently a lot of folks who aren’t too happy now.

He should have put their donation into a stock account, instead of wasting it on a flimsy vacation.
That teaches poor money management.
Altruism is a myth.
The altruist gets to play hero as a payoff.

I have become a skeptic over time on how the public turns stories into feel goodism.

The main point is was the money wasted.
Yes it was.
Wasting is wasteful.

“... I just wish Sinise would consider the FACTS ...” Well, we now know that the democommies only speak the ‘truth’ and to heck with ‘facts’. Per nuzzlin’ joe’s proclamation. There always seems to be a hull in the popcorn that gets stuck that kinda bugs ya.

Maybe.....................

But imagine that you lost your parent and that someone cared and that you got to spend time with other kids that lost a parent.

The seeds planted here are an investment also.

Disney World in Florida is mammoth beyond what you can imagine if you haven’t been there.

It is in a literal sense a city, a decent-sized city.

There are also loads of sponsors donating to this, it’s not like Gary is just p*$$ing money away. He has worked hard to help make this happen at very low cost. Airlines donate flights, people donate time, Disney donates free or discounted entrance, etc....
