The military of Iraq was on our side in this. They responded to disperse the folks on the ground.
The group that demonstrated/attacked our embassy was Kata’ib Hizbollah, and organization funded, armed and controlled by the Iranian Government, composed of Shi’tes recruited/hired from among Iraqi citizens.
These reinforcements seem to be a Quick Reaction Force, in case Kata’ib Hizbollah decides to come back again with their weapons. They would just have to hold them for a while, until the Iraqi Army and American Airpower finish off any attackers.

Politically, you kind of have to condemn another country conducting airstrikes in your country, and killing dozens of your citizens.
Is it just lip service? We will have to see. Grand Ayatollah Sistani, the senior Shi’ite cleric in Iraq, also condemned the US air strikes, but he is believed to be an Iraqi patriot, who is managing a delicate political/military situation in resisting Iranian domination (including the threat to his own life).
Things have really gotten hot in Iraq over Iranian interference. Hundreds have been killed in recent widespread demonstrations/rioting, and the Iranian consulate in Karbala was burned. It is a two way fight for the future of Iraq. The Iranias regime is facing grim prospects

The publicity of these troop movements is an intentional message. You Marines are not alone. We are coming. We will defend our territory and our honor.
Meanwhile, the rose bowl commentary on KTLA is all gushy about social justice warriors. I puke.
God speed our young men. Ours has been several times. You can learn about the feelings but you will never understand it until you are a blue star family. I can’t even fathom the feelings of being a gold star family.
I abhor virtue signaling but pray for our troops. Unlike so many times for a long time they are going with purpose. I believe they will get all the support they need.
