Ex-DOJ Official Picked To Assist FISA Reform Was Ardent Defender Of FBI’s Surveillance Of Carter Page

Former DOJ official David Kris was picked Friday to oversee the FBI’s reforms of its surveillance procedures in the wake of a damning inspector general’s report.

Kris was an ardent defender of the FBI’s surveillance of Carter Page. He was also a vocal critic of Republicans who suggested the FBI misled the surveillance court in its applications to wiretap Page.

In one essay, Kris endorsed a suggestion that Rep. Devin Nunes should face obstruction of justice charges.

Nunes told the Daily Caller News Foundation the choice of Kris is “shocking and inexplicable.”

former Justice Department official picked Friday to oversee the FBI’s reforms of its surveillance procedures in the wake of a damning inspector general’s report was one of the many pundits during the Russia probe to defend the bureau’s surveillance of Trump campaign aide Carter Page.

David S. Kris, a former assistant attorney general for national security, was also an outspoken critic of Rep. Devin Nunes and other congressional Republicans who accused the FBI of misleading the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC) in applications to wiretap Page.

An inspector general’s (IG) report released Dec. 9, 2019, largely vindicated Republicans and Page. The report identified 17 errors and omissions the FBI made in its four applications to surveil Page. The IG also said the FBI was unable to corroborate allegations that Page was a Russian agent.

Judge James E. Boasberg, who presides over the FISC, tapped Kris serve as amicus curiae for a review of the FBI’s handling of the Page surveillance warrants. In that role, Kris will “assist” the FISC in assessing the FBI’s implementation of a series of reforms to address the problems uncovered in the IG report.

Nunes and Page both panned the choice of Kris given his past commentary defending the FBI.

In other words, according to Kris,

Terrorists have more rights than Paul Manafort and Michael Flynn.

I can only repeat the question I asked here yesterday, does William Barr have control of his Department of Justice?

Secret courts are contrary to our founding principles. Liberty is dead when law enforcement and judges can spy on citizens with impunity, create situations to entrap them, and bankrupt them through the legal process. To preserve freedom the FISA courts must be abolished. Those enabling tyranny cannot objectively investigate themselves.

Not sure Barr does have control of the FISA court. It seems to be independent and under the control of the Judiciary via Justice John Roberts with oversight by congress.

The people Roberts is appointing seem to reflect poorly on his judgement. While Roberts did not tap Kris tor the job, he did tap the Obama appointee FISA Judge who gave Kris the job.

Looks like Roberts might have been a bit premature in his assessment that there is no such thing as an Obama Judge

Director Ray of the FBI who is under the control of Atty. Gen. Barr has pronounced himself satisfied with the palliative remedies for the FISA court.

Authorized military action on the field of battle is yet another constitutional right. The problem is these terrorists do not wear a uniform of any nation.

"On February 7, 2014 Chief Justice John G. His term began May 18, 2014. On December 20, 2019, the FISC announced he will replace the Presiding Judge FISC January 1, 2020 and elevated to preside." From wikipedia.

Well Boasberg is an Obama appointee,Roberts appointed him to replace Collyer,so who do you think they will pick.
President Trump is being played,I don’t understand how he is letting all this happen, the end will be when Durham and Barr close down everything with no charges. Want to be really out raged? Read The Plot Against President Trump, how Devin Nues exposed the biggest scandal in American history by Lee Smith,
Just read it if you can stomach what you read will be totally ignored and not even be explained by Durham and Barr, but why President Trump does not even talk about it baffles me
