One can believe in both I suppose but aliens will crowd out God like anything one becomes obsessed with.

Actually, I don’t think one can believe in both.

God made man in His image; *IF* there are aliens, they’d have to be man as well. I don’t think God would make another sentient being in His image.

But, as I am NOT God, I truly have no idea what He thinks, only what He tells me.

There are hundreds of billions of stars in each galaxy; there are uncountable trillions of of galaxies

Yes, well the odds we are talking about is a number bigger than the total number of atoms in the universe. A billion trillion to the hundredth power would be understating it significantly.

The right conditions for life to exist and grow are hard to come by.

Everywhere anyone has looked here on Earth, there is life. Conditions don’t seem to actually matter that much

Look. Just because they strapped some wind-blown bint to a rocket doesn’t make her an authority on extraterrestrial existence

However intelligent life like we have here on Earth is very rare.

You know that because ...? Out of the hundreds of billions of stars in each of the uncountable trillions of galaxies intelligent life is rare? The average for stars is one planet. Do the math - my calculator does not go that high. Is MJ legal were you live?

Or do you mean that tongue in cheek with the bar set low (intelligent life like we have here)...

There’s another book - long since lost - that makes the same point - life cannot advance beyond a certain point on the Creator’s scale until everyone, everywhere on all the worlds, has caught up. A dark and sad tale as I recall.

“Alien belief is just a substitute for God.”

Or another way to look at it is that IF aliens definitely exist, God created them and all is well.

You, of course, got those odds from your bookmaker?

Well, perhaps wisdom prevailed

Sometime after I turned 70 I realized that the wisdom that is a function of age just sort of bubbles out. It manifests on it’s own, unstoppable.

Relax and enjoy the condition that is manifestation of you wisdom : )

I believe scientist Stephen Meyer provides various sources in his works. Like I said earlier we now know how incredibly complex a functional folding protein is. The odds against even a single such protein forming randomly is 10 to the 164th power. That’s a number which dwarfs even the largest estimate of the number of stars and planets in the universe.

You seem to think the numbers are on your side. The numbers are not on your side.

Life does exist, so it is possible.

Unless your god lives in a shoebox, there’s a lot of opportunity in an absolutely unrestricted Universe for experimentation.

Why would an entity with the power of a god be willing to have only one channel for entertainment?

Why would a fallible, finite being think they could know why an omnipotent, infinite being like God does everything he does? Certainly God could create life on another planet but there’s nothing to suggest he has. Scripture certainly gives no such indication.

Space aliens or earth aliens. Used to be the term “alien” simply meant “someone from another place,” but Hollywood now re-writers our dictionaries.
