“are not prions a part of mad cow disease?”
Yes.
I find the information you posted interesting. I’ll go back and read in detail later.
Thanks for sharing.
Prions are not technically alive. Therefore they cannot be killed. Enjoy you tea
Reminds me of the story my mom told me while was in Spain many years ago. She found the pits of chewed olives in her food.
My son just got back from Hanoi and half dozen other Asian cities. He didnt notice any issues.
I agree! When you have a brutal totalitarian government, it always tries to cover up failures, problems, and disasters.
To this day, the sleazebag Russian government claims there were only 30 deaths caused by the Chernobyl disaster.
Thanks.
It’s just now unfolding.
True. But he just returned yesterday
Like I had just got him from the airport. So probably not a huge difference within a weeks time in the countries he went to and you are going to.
I am amazed at how fast this is spreading. I Guess it’s due to the New Year celebration.
“Prions are not technically alive. . .”

I understand that viruses are also described thus.
prions are a step more primitive than viruses even. I have heard debate on whether viruses are alive and honestly I dont know where it stands currently. Prions are. of living organisms by any measure of what we call alive. They are interesting and scary objects

had 653 cases 8 hours ago, and just now — 881.
DESPITE the quarantines.
That’s 227/653 = ~34% increase in cases in 8 hours.
And dead from 18 to 26 —> and 44% increase in deaths.
Death rate had been 18/663=2.75%, now 26/881=2.95%
Death rate is slowing increasing: not sure if that is random fluctuation, but it is not _improving_.
I’m thinking with that kind of snapshot, horse is not only out of the barn, but having little colds (colts) all over the pasture.

Just learned my son is heading back to Asia next week for a couple of weeks. S Korea snd Japan. Im packing up a couple face masks for him. Glad he didnt object.
Hm. Whether or not counted as alive, it would seem to be advantageous to be able to inactivate prions. As well as viruses.
The quote I excerpted earlier came from an unusual source, and the researcher - a Hulda Clark - wrote seven books on disease, the most significant claim being that almost all cancers and many illnesses are actually due to unchecked parasite activity and undetected heavy metal poisoning, along with several other factors.
A interesting hypothesis.
Yes do tell...
This story may mot a personal habit. Maybe an unthinking action on the part of the cook:
At one Chinese buffet with a grill, I got a plate with some raw meat and vegetables to be grilled. All went well, my food was almost done cooking. It was in a corner of the grill when 2 new customers came up with plates containing uncooked meat to be grilled.
The cook proceeds to scrape the meats onto the grill and then picks up my food onto a clean plate but his grilling implement still had raw meat juices on it. So basically he wiped his serving implement with my cooked food. I didn’t eat the food on that plate.
One of the few times ive been grossed out by food. Good thing I was watching that time.
