DOJ says surveillance of Trump campaign adviser Page lacked evidence

The Justice Department has concluded that the evidence underlying multiple warrants authorizing the surveillance of former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page failed to show Page was a foreign agent, as the law requires.

The department delivered its conclusion in a December letter to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC), the secretive federal body that approved the department’s four surveillance applications of the Trump aide.

A Justice Department assessment found that in at least two applications "there was insufficient predication to establish probable cause to believe that Page was acting as an agent of a foreign power," states a FISC court document quoting the department’s review.

The law is not like so many people, who may be perfectly correct in everyday terms. The law is its own thing. It is deliberate. The law is slow. It is not hasty or urgent--unlike, say, anything Pencil-neck does. It is timeless, considered, and utterly logical. Its strength is that it is inexorable, just, terrifying, and final.

It is all that but you left off the laws most important quality, they are for sale.

The problem is that unlike criminal justice, political justice is not law-driven, it is media-driven.

Crimes committed by politicians are still crimes aren't they?

Yes, I agree.

But like it or not, if you look at modern history, crimes committed by Democrat politicians, or on behalf of Democrat politicians do not get punished while Republican related crimes do.

The media accomplishes this by creating a public perception that Democrat crimes should be ignored, while Republican crimes are scandalous.

When the media succeeds in ginning up public outrage against Republicans (AKA Nixon, Trump), that puts tremendous pressure on politicians to punish those crimes.

When the media succeeds in downplaying Democrat crimes (AKA Clintons Obama, Bidens) there is tremendous pressure on politicians to let them slide.

Politicians always succumb to the pressure of public opinion, and the media, unfortunately, is able to manipulate public opinion.

I’d love to be Carter Page’s lawyer, if I were a lawyer. He can sue the DOJ, the FBI AND the FISA court, and get punitive damages, too. This is an abortion, a complete and total screw-up by the deep state and its entire apparatus.

SO...

What’s going to happen now.

I hope it will NOT be ….WE ARE GOING TO MAKE THE COURT BETTER NOW...

THAT WILL NOT DO. SOMEONE, MORE THAN ONE, WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR ALL THE LAW BREAKING AND DISRUPTION TO THE COUNTRY.

WE WANT JUSTICE. WE DESERVE BETTER TREATMENT FOR SUFFERING ALONG WITH PRESIDENT TRUMP ALL THIS TIME!!!!

I can still hear the reporters asking, in their snide, insulting voices, to Sara Sanders:

Reporter: Is there a Russian agent in the White House?
Sara: NO
Reporter: with a cocky look on his face, almost whispering. What about “Carter Page?”

ON FAR MORE THAN ONE OCCASION DURING THE PRESS CONFERENCES.

IT WAS SICKENING!!!!!

A very good and well stated assessment of the pervasive bias that inflicts the media, and indeed the body politic.

You nailed it.

One of the many reasons for this is the ideological and symbiotic relationship between the media and the Democrat Party.

Not the real law, which is the one people are afraid of. There are plenty of people who think they've bought the law, and then find out otherwise. I forget who said it: We cannot break the Law. We can only break ourselves upon the Law.

To the degree our practice of law follows the contours of the Law, it acquires the power I described. It is in no hurry, because it is eternal. It can seem to be dithering around for a time. But if it were hasty, emotional, and quick to respond to events--like us--it wouldn't be the law.

As long as they are for sale they are open to better offers. Epstein found that out the hard way.
