On the Bidens, Schiff Opened the Door
National Reviw ^ | January 22, 2020 | Andrew C. McCarthy

For an advocate, it is a coup when the judge rules that harmful testimony is excluded. But such rulings always come with a warning label: Don’t open the door. That is, don’t do anything that makes the otherwise irrelevant evidence relevant.

President Trump’s impeachment trial has a Biden door. Adam Schiff has thrown it wide open.

The ridiculous thing about this charade is the SCREACHING that impeachment is failing because the President won’t turn over evidence. HellOoooo, it was a forgone conclusion that the President didn’t have to aid in his congressional prosecution. The presidency is a co-equal branch of government with congress, and doesn’t have to turn over anything. It’s been that way for over 200 years, but somehow the left didn’t know it back in October?

If Democrats have some facts to bring out worth impeaching a president over, then they should bring them out and convict. Otherwise they should STFU.

This crap was finished before it started.

The fact that the defense presents second gave Schiff concerns the Bidens would be brought up and he wouldnt have a chance to rebut.....so he tried to do a pre-buttal (is that a word?) Which in my humble opinion has backfired on him.

And yet not one arrest.

There never is. DC is a justice and accountability free zone.

I agree. I think the Democrat strategists here are ABSOLUTE IDIOTS, and I don’t say lightly, as I usually point out that they are smarter than Republicans (and they probably do have higher IQs), as they usually roll our side - and I beat up on others here who call the Democrats a bunch of idiots (never underestimate one’s enemy).

But some of the stuff causes me to wonder if they are idiots, at least the ones here. What got me started thinking that they may be missing a few neural connections was back in 2014, when Schumer knew he was going to lose the Senate, but they wanted a handful of far-left judges confirmed, so he nuked the filibuster...which then opened the door for Trump to get his judges confirmed, with the Dems unable to stop him. And now impeachment...

The thing about the Dems is that they simply REFUSE to turn against their own leaders. Pelosi is losing her mind, Schumer is an absolute idiot regarding strategy, Schiff is a flat-out liar, and Biden is going senile. But they continue to defend all of them...right to the end. Somewhat admirable, but there are limits.

The only time that they move quickly against their own is when they know that there’s tons of additional dirt waiting to come out. For example there were rumors that the 3-some Congresswoman was also ‘experimenting’ with kids and animals...so she’s toast, and quickly. And then that prosecutor in NYC who was forced to resign within like 4 hours after the accusations came out (he was doing a lot more than rubbing shoulders with his female staff). Obviously, in both cases, they knew much more, and knew it for a long time. But those were the exceptions.

“How many members of this body have children on the boards of foreign companies?”

*************

Why is this allowed in the first place. If Gramham and Cruz don’t like it why don’t they do something about it? It obviously leads to corruption and unhealthy influence peddling.

The simple answer is they don’t really care what their corrupt colleagues do. Its all one big happy family on the Hill.

The book doesn’t really go to the place were an arrest is possible. It would take an uncompromised prosecutor to actually marry this material to criminal acts to get to the arrest place. But, the problem is that the book describes a whole process of how power is accumulated and distributed by the Democrat and probably the Republican party as well.

Given that government regulated and distributed finance of elections is seriously stupid, then one has to imagine how this mechanism of politics should work to keep it above board and yet let folks make the deals that make politics work. Even attempting to watch family members is a porous thing, as it would just drive this to relationships with people further from the Politician. Deeper thinking needs to be done. But, Graham almost blew this thing out of the water in an interview today as he struggle to not talk about the whole list of Senators who have kids on foreign boards and are using these same tactics to gain and maintain power and personal wealth.

ClearCasw_guy, you nailed it.

It DOES appear the ‘fix’ is in on the deep state remaining.

I think DJT should say to the dems, if being on the Barisma board is OK I will put my kids on the board. What could the dems say?

Frankly, asking any Biden to testify is a huge waste of time. I am more interested in witnesses that know things like John Solomon who will actually tell the truth about what they have found in the records of these people.

The Bidens should given the opportunities to testify at their own trials.

The Biden door is inherently open in the article of impeachment. One must find that “Biden/Burisma corruption” is known to not exist in order to conclude that calling to investigate Biden/Burisma is not justified.

It’s necessary to “look there.”

Setting up a conflict of interest invites scrutiny. Giuliani is going there because our government is corrupt, and will not look into this sort of corruption.

I have friends (yea. I have already been dinged on this.. ) but they are struggling.. they look at the Democrat field and want to love these people and can’t. They ask me, who do you support? Honestly. And, I have to demure by saying, “I know who I support” and leave it at that, because I know if I go further, it will cost me personally or professionally.

That swamp is never going to get drained.

**************

That is right. In fact, the bigger government gets (and I absolutely guarantee you that it will keep getting bigger) the opportunities for corruption, graft, profiteering, and abuses of power will expand exponentially. That’s why government NEVER shrinks.

The corruption and dysfunction will only get worse. Anyone who has been paying attention knows that DC is immune to accountability. It is a justice and ethics free zone.

We are well on our way to becoming a kleptocracy.

This is clearly an important issue. But such a move would gore so many oxes that Trump could find himself impeached and removed after all.

The best you can do is to set a date when this standard and reporting would apply and when enforcement would begin.. and then the rats on both sides would jump ship.

But, in the end, the problem is that people form networks to build political power. The issue is how to make this possible while assuring that it doesn’t become corrupt. It takes lots of effort to manage the unintended consequences of each move you make to clean the problem up.

They are doing this to..
1-throw mud at Trump & kept his accomplishments off the headlines
2-Give 24x7 news ferrets something to talk about.
3-Allow the media to give its interpretation of a civics & rules of evidence lecture
4-Distract from Biden (and other Dems) corruption

They are not your friends. They are acquaintenances.

True friends are honest and respectful of your views. They value you as a person and even though we all have unique experiences and beliefs, real friends don’t dismiss your opinions. They make an honest and respectful effort to understand them because they have a genuine affection for you.

I worked around tons of liberals. They are for the most part immature backstabbers. (Interestingly, most also craved money and material things.) I harbored no illusions about them and quite frankly had no interest in them as “friends”.

Sorry, I couldn’t resist “piling on”. But its important to make a distinction between real friends and casual acquaintenances who probably don’t give a whit about you.
