This is very frightening that delusion is being forced on people by government fiat.
No, please no. Don’t go to FlArida! It is filled to the brim with big alligators, huge snakes and giant lizards! And the pizza is terrible!
Further widen the competitive gap between the red and blue states.
The Obamas disagree.
NJ is going full People’s Republic in a hurry.
Just bought a WWII rifle from a gun & pawn dealer in Passaic.
He’s closing up shop and moving to PA. Gun laws in NJ are worse than VA’s soon will be.
If this nonsense becomes law expect the already ridiculously high prices in NJ to skyrocket to even more insane levels.
I thank God almost daily for the insight/foresight to leave the State when I did.
As an NJ homeowner who will be leaving a few years, I’m okay with this. By creating a housing shortage, it should raise the value of my house. If I am lucky, the market will crest just after I sell (when all the businesses announce they are leaving this craphole state).
It is such a shame for my county — we are in the pretty northwestern part of the state, but we get dragged into the sewer by voters in Tenton, Newark, Camdem, etc.
I am not opposed to updated codes for building.
New construction homes are much better insulated, better windows and doors than houses built previous to 1980.
The house I built in 1990 is still a better built structure than the two other houses I bought since then. These two other houses were both built in 1972.
Double pane Low E glass windows. Fiberglass or steel skinned foam insulated doors. R50 in the attic. House wrap. These are all changes to building codes instituted to save energy and MONEY. My electricity bill is over $200/month from Eversource in NH. It is not getting cheaper. I have done everything I can think of to lower the energy consumption of my house.
So, some of these regulations are not all bad.
I don’t care if the leftists destroy their own economies.
Just don’t bring that sh*t to Wyoming.
New Jersey is going red in Nov. Mark my words.
Such BS, on the Dems part.
Wake up, NJ!!
I hear that in Florida, if you have your home on land with agricultural use you can do alot with permits. Statutes allow you to throw up buildings (noone can live in) and do a/c and electrical for office, without a permit from the local county.
The local govt’s will lie to you but its in state statute.
This is nothing new for Joizey. For decades it has been ruled by either the Mafia or the Teamsters, which backed the DemonRats.
When nj institutes more regulations they don’t have the best interests of others in mind. They either enrich the corrupt mandarins that run this state or expand the power of it, or both.
Exactly.
They have been wanting to stack us all in Soviet-style projects like rats in a cage for about the last hundred years or so.
I know a builder who wisely gave up using the word Green. He builds High-Performance houses.
I read somewhere that more new building materials have been introduced in the last decade than is all of human history. Many of those are designed to increase performance.
But, that should be at the choice of the builder or buyer, not some government hack (who can be paid off to only allow certain brands)
” Is that agricultural exemption outside the city limits?”
Most likely yes. I live in unincorporated county lands, 10 acres and have greenbelt on 9 acres for cattle.
I need to house tractor to mow and generator to keep well pumping water, etc, etc.
ha
that was my exact thought.
my wife has a cousin that lives there...her house was on the market for 14 months before it sold. nothing special about the house....just no buyers.
no one wants to actually MOVE TO Jersey...this deal oughtta kill the new construction side of things.....smh....idiots
Maybe not in the last decade, but probably in the last 30 years.
Parts of the tree or cutoffs from the sawmill that used to go into the chipper now go to making other products.
Finger-Joint studs and dimension lumber is an example of that. Take a 2x4 2’ piece glue it together and make a 10’ piece.
OSB board was first introduced in the 1970’s. It has now almost eliminated plywood as an exterior sheathing product.
Engineered flooring(plywood flooring) was developed as a way to make wood flooring cheaper. Now it is used over radiant heated floors because it will not shrink as much.
Foam insulation has come down greatly in price from what it was 20 years ago. Installing foam eliminates the need for a vapor barrier.
Metal roofing has become a lot cheaper/square foot. Now it is real alternative from Asphalt shingles.
Most of these products were developed to make a better product or do the same thing but cheaper.
Look at how much the price of LED bulbs have dropped in the last 5 years. We went from using incandescent to CFL’s to LEDs in about a ten year period.
Basically Capitalism works.
