So, we are going to be subjected to Bolton’s OPINIONS and his crying about his hurt feelings. We’ve heard all that crap before from a whole list of liberal crybabies.

“I see your points but at this stage of the game it would surprise me if Mitch did encourage Romney or the others.”

Maybe. Or maybe there’s a GOP establishment plot to slow-walk this process toward removing Trump, with new developments (Bolton’s book!), (witnesses!) scripted in advance, and McConnell playing the part of losing Trump defender. HAve you never heard of throwing a fight?

If they rig the trial for a conviction you will not want to be within 100 miles of any major city in the US. The USA will be done as a going concern and half the country will have zero stake in continuing as-is.

Democrat Senate in an impeachment trial would mean that the Repukes would stick together...just like Obamacare nonsense... it’s all for show when you’re in the minority

McConnell doesn’t have to encourage Romney. All he has to do is nothing and Romney will fill the vacuum. As another FReepr pointed out: McConnell is not the point man for the GOP Senate. He does not publicly lay out policy positions and dare his caucus to oppose him like Schumer does. So the GOP mavericks have plenty of room to roam. That’s by design and why they voted for him to be Majority Leader, obviously.

Good point.

Romney doesn’t need encouragement to do anything detrimental to the president.

They knew there was no such thing as a “Speedy Trial.” That was Bait and Switch.

Just like - it won’t take Mueller long to clear Trump.

Peeps were played.

Before the consideration of witnesses, per Mitch’s own rules, is the Q&A period for 16 hours, divided equally, among the Senators.

Then we will see how the Senate votes on witnesses. Mitch cannot unilaterally prevent the calling of witnesses; it will come to a vote. If they decide to hear witnesses, they will be deposed in closed depositions. This is key, because Hunter Biden is VERY likely to plead the 5th, making him a non-witness, and therefore not really a “tradeable commodity” in this witness swap. Joe Biden, on the other hand, can kiss his nomination goodbye if he were to plead the 5th, plus he’s so sure he’s above the law, he’ll testify. He will deny all wrongdoing, though.

Bolton’s testimony, if it’s what the NYT reported, is nothing to be afraid of. So what if Trump “preferred” to withhold the aid until he knew the Ukrainians were doing an investigation. Even if Trump talked with Bolton about actually doing it, where is this rule that a President can’t seek the advice of his cabinet on all kinds of scenarios?? It doesn’t make it illegal or a “high crime.”

When I predicted this would be the case, I was attacked here.

You can’t speak the Truth about those Senate Republicans. They only care about what the Senate Dems think.

I’ve notice when there is an uptick in personal attacks it means the party doing that is not able to argue the facts at hand.

The handwriting has been on the wall. China Mitch delayed the bad news as long as possible to prevent opposition developing until it was too late. It’s that simple. Gaslighting 101.

I will delay my response. If these RINOs vote for witnesses but vote
against calling Hunter Biden, Schiff, The Whistleblower and others
all hell is going to break loose. So I will wait and see how they vote
on ALL witnesses and get back to you.

I don’t care that much about Biden right now. He’s finished after NH.

On the contrary. Biden will win SC comfortably and has to be favored in the many Dem primary states with large black populations. Hillary’s path to the nom, basically.

Bloomberg, the guy who openly plunges his penis into an area where another male defecates from and vice versa, along with Hillary who thinks she is above it all, are loving this witness outcome.

Biden is too stupid to understand what is about to hit him.

Tell me how the president is going to be removed. He did nothing impeachable. Dershowitz hit Bolton’s book with that yesterday.

“Throw a fight”? How?

Donald Trump is going to carry on and win in November.

So what’s Mitch gonna do after Trump wins in 2020?? Stall another four years? I don’t think so. The wall is gonna happen, at least large portions of it. We haven’t even really heard Trump’s 2020 platform or agenda yet. I’m sure it will include infrastructure, but in my conservative opinion, Trump is spending WAY too much money. We’re adding more the national debt under Trump than we did under Obama...that’s not good. It’s about the only negative, but I think limited government is the ideal.
