“GOP candidates would get about 20,000 votes this year collectively, and it would be the last year the GOP would be a functioning entity.”

I’m not sure of that. If they did the deed within the next month or so, Pence would be the presidential candidate, and the same “conservatives” who voted reluctantly for Romney in 2012 would vote for Pence in November. Most freepers, for example, claim to despise Romney - but they voted for him for president (because the “alternative was worse”). The GOP leadership counts on that kind of sheepleism among the base, and most of the time their expectations are satisfied.

First of all they are not MY 3 RINOs. I’m interested in stopping the crap and allowing President Trump to have at least 4 more years t get done what needs to be done, and he is going to have 2 more SCOTUS picks. I’ll ask you again, who do you want in charge of the senate? We can’t afford to lose anyone.

“Hmm, I wonder why many of us wanted a straight up or down vote on recognition of the Articles of Impeachment to begin with.”

That’s what I wanted...just like a frivolous lawsuit and throw their asses out of court,

“Because I pay attention.”

Good. Then you know it’s not McConnell’s fault.

-- My understanding is they have to vote to approve witnesses. --

Two steps. The first one is pure proceudure, it is allowed by our rules, is it in order to vote on witnesses at all?

If yes, then will be motions for witnesses. The deals will be made in the back rooms. This is entirely opaque to the public. The sentators will do the usual lie and smile thing.

There is no way a witness will be allowed, that could damage a senator. Impssible. These crooks make themselves untouchable, and put themselves on a pedastal.

They will have witnesses and hunter Biden and anyone connected to Berisma will not be on the witness list. Republicans are all in to caving and many want Trump removed from office. This was the outcome when they started this after Mueller fiasco failed and Trump is likely to be reelected.

This is the state of Washington that has to be recognized for what it is now, its an aristocracy in all but name.

No...I’m sure he has control over the final language. All he has to do is poison pill it. Alternative...call their bluff, put it up for a verdict and dare them to vote Trump out because they didn’t get their way.

“So you think Mitch called Romney and encouraged him?”

All I’m saying is it wouldn’t shock me. I don’t believe Mitch likes Trump, and he certainly didn’t push through a MAGA agenda when the GOP had control of both Houses. We got Ryanist tax cuts for corporations, but no wall, no immigration cuts, no infrastructure (something Trump promised in the 2016 campaign), no health care reform based on “getting rid of the lines” (between states) as Trump promised, etc etc.

Like most of the GOP establishment, McConnell has been trying to restrain Trump until his time in the White House is up, so we can get back to Bush-McCain-Romney Republicanism as usual.

Based on the votes concerning past amendments Schumer brought up during this farce, which of the 47 dems would vote against witnesses?

Keep in mind, the base of dem candidates that are Senators want witnesses.

When I predicted this would be the case, I was attacked here.

You can’t speak the Truth about those Senate Republicans. They only care about what the Senate Dems think.

I see your points but at this stage of the game it would surprise me if Mitch did encourage Romney or the others.

Romney is nothing but a Democrat Mole anyway. He doesn’t need encouragement.

This could be a good strategy to say they don’t have the votes to block witnesses. There are a few witnesses that the Democrats DO NOT want to hear from. The whistleblower and the ICIG is two that will get called by the president’s defense. I don’t care that much about Biden right now. He’s finished after NH.

That’s not what will happen. The same 4 who get Bolton to testify will say Biden isn’t relevant

It’s just the Deep State trying to run out of the clock on Trump’s presidency.

No matter how corrupt, the Democrats almost always unite. About half of the Republicans on the other hand act like a bunch of neutered sheep.

I get your logic, and can’t argue with it.

Trump is our last chance. If he can’t do it, to hell with it.
