WEST WARWICK, Rhode Island - The pastor of a Rhode Island church issued a flier which said that every state legislator who voted last year to preserve the right to an abortion in state law would be denied communion.

Father Richard Bucci distributed the fliers last week at Sacred Heart Church in West Warwick, the Providence Journal reported on Saturday. He also mailed them to the homes of several lawmakers.

Decided to put this into News/Activism because it involves the exercise of religious freedom and has an impact beyond the creedal or denominational.

Bishop Tom Tobin (the "good" Tobin) is evidently supporting his priest on this.

It might be a good idea to give Tobin some backup on twitter --- maybe he could develop enough testicular fortitude to make it policy for his whole diocese--- which he should have done as soon as he was consecrated, but better late than never. Here:

“Fine, I’ll find another priest.”

That’s what I think the usual reaction will be.

I doubt my Bishop has the guts to do this since he is in charge of the Diocese of Arlington in Virginia.

the U.S. Constitution requires the separation of church and state,” said McEntee

---

Which clearly means she needs to stop going to church and writing letters to Catholic priests.

Excellent. Let these so called Catholics know that we...and,more importantly, their Creator....sees what they’re doing.

What does this have to do with the separation of church and state? This is a church matter that has nothing to do with the state. I don’t think I am wrong on this. If I am wrong would someone let me know where I am wrong.

That goes along with the Bishop of Springfield Illinois refusing to administer Holy Communion to Senator Dick Durban.

Lemme guess...your Bishop still proclaims one of his parishioners, the Senior senator from Chappaquiddick,to be “a paragon of Christian virtue and purity”.

A Catholic Priest actually enforcing Christian doctrine. What a refreshing change.

Both Arlington and Richmond published a letter complaining about the shredding of fetal safeguards.

I say complain because condemn is nowhere in that joint letter.

The Church in China is all but disappeared with faithful priests and bishops gone, either hidden or in prisons.

What do our princes do? Do they risk all for Christ? All of them had better gird up because the storm is coming especially if the democrats take the WH and Congress this year.

50 years too late.

The church should have excommunicated the Kennedys in the 1960s.

And actually STOOD for something.

It should be being done by every Catholic priest in the United States. These politicians are leading the faithful astray and it should stop. People like Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden for example are leading people to back sin. Abortion is the killing of developing Human beings. The fifth Commandment forbids this and yet we are lettng our top politicians tell us it is okay. That is wrong. Let us get some backbone priests. Let’s shut them down.
