the japanese earthquake causing the nuclear plant disaster probably plays a major role in this decision...

Meanwhile, the idiots in Germany are shutting down some of the cleanest-burning coal plants yet designed. Maybe the Japanese can just buy all the equipment, disassemble it, and ship it home to be reassembled where needed.

"I wonder if any of them would like to volunteer to off themselves for the cause? "

That is truly the solution to the current "Climate Emergency".

Considering we’re going into a cooling period this will not affect us in terms of global warming, in the slightest.

***one of the dirtiest sources of electricity***

Electrostatic precipitators removes the fly ash. Other addons take care of other pollutants. So what is there to complain about?

It wasn’t really a Fukushima nuclear disaster that occurred, it was an Environmentalist Win.

The environmentalists won their court cases when the siting for the nuclear plant was established.

Scientists wanted the plant to be located on higher ground to avoid the possibility of a tsunami disaster.

The environmentalists won, so it got built on the level where tsunamis could take it out.

They got their way.

“Why coal, why now?” said Ms. Kanno

Because, Ms. Kanno, you and other Japanese Luddites demanded the country phase out nuclear energy after the Fukushima tsunami disaster. So, Japan has to rely on fossil fuels now.

Do liberals ever think things through?

CO2 is not a pollutant, despite what 7 dopes on the Supreme Court might say. CO2 is an airborne fertilizer.

The usual leftists are doing their usual fear-mongering.

I have an awesome coal boiler in my basement, I haven’t used it lately because my 85 year old chimney is a little sketchy. I have a bin full of coal, But after the springtime when I get my chimney rebuilt, I’m going to burn coal like an obstinate madman.

Oregon, Washington and Montana are shutting down all their coal plants. I’m a bit surprised at Montana. Anyhow, there are brownouts predicted for the Northwest in 4 to 6 years. That is not far off.

With the sun going into a Mandur Minimun we need to build coal plants fast to stop the ice age.

Maybe Japan has figured out that the whole climate thing is BS. They are pretty smart.

Better solution. Ban them from gas propelled cars. Let them ride bicycles.

We’ve got plenty of coal to sell them.
Until we elect enough dems to outlaw exports.

Unfortunately, it's already happened.
Utah wanted to export coal via the west coast. The port of Oakland made it illegal to use the port for coal.
