This is so sad. I remember Mr Bean. It is surprising that both drivers stayed at the scene. Really...

I wasn’t offended, I was just pointing out a fact.

Hope the driver had insurance.

Reports are that he was jaywalking. California is a comparative negligence state, meaning that a plaintiff can't recover to the his extent his damages resulted from his own negligence. If he was jaywalking, especially if after dark, there certainly is an argument that he was 100% responsible and should recover nothing from the drivers.

It’s not the driver’s fault! The article clearly says the car did it! Obviously we need a reasonable common sense car ban! If it saves just one life it’s worth it!

Re: Johnny Carson Shows

That was my first thought. He was always so funny talking with Johnny Carson and Ed.

He was on a lot of game shows in the sixties. He was a foil for Jayne Mansfield on the original Match Game, I believe. Good guy. Lived his own way. RIP.

Something doesn’t smell right. At 91 he should know to look both ways when jaywalking.

I’d be looking to see if he has a life insurance policy and see how it pays out in case of an “accident”.

Was he senile? Not all there mentally? I’m not buying this was an unintentional accident. Could have been and maybe it was but I’m skeptical. Rotten thing to do to those drivers if it was intentional.

I jay walked once coming out from behind cars. Somehow I didnt see the car. Car plowed into me. Somehow..some way..I wasn’t drastically hurt. It knocked me off to the side of the road.

Stuffs happens.

I was so embarassed and so worried about being at fault and had no health insurance..so I waved the car on and said i was okay. I was young and incredibly dumb.

God played a role in that one

THere are so many things wrong with my story...I just shake my head that it happened and that i survived without major harm

I was pretty bruised, shaken up, and some effects like back pain for awhile..but OMG..I could have had serious internal injuries and not known it ..from head to toe.

I will probably remember that day and how lucky I was even on my death bed.

Heck, I get caught up in my own thoughts all the time while doing routine things, like just brushing my teeth. Then forget to use the waterpik or something else that’s part of my routine.

I understand what you’re saying but I’m still skeptical.

I don’t know what it’s like to be 91 and likely never will. This may have been a tragic mistake/accident. We may never know for sure.

...classic Twilight Zone episode in 1960, played the hapless Mr. Bevis.

That is where I most remember him!

Hope the driver had insurance.

It's California. If he was white, then he's required to have insurance and a driver's license.

I remembered him first as a panelist on To Tell The Truth and then as the voice of Bilbo Baggins in Rankin-Bass’ animated version of The Hobbit.
