Barr announces 'significant escalation' against 'sanctuary' localities

Attorney General William Barr announced Monday that there will be a “significant escalation” against “sanctuary” cities, counties and states, including lawsuits against localities opposed to the Trump administration's hard-line immigration policies.

The administration is attempting to crack down on local and state governments that have pledged to protect undocumented immigrants from deportation. Barr announced lawsuits against the state of New Jersey and King County, Wash., which includes Seattle.

“Unfortunately, in various jurisdictions, so-called ‘progressive’ politicians are jeopardizing the public’s safety by putting the interests of criminal aliens before those of law-abiding citizens,” Barr said.

“These policies are textbook examples of misguided ideology triumphing over commonsense law enforcement,” he added.

Barr, speaking at the National Sheriffs’ Association 2020 Winter Legislative and Technology Conference, said the department is "reviewing the practices, policies and laws of other jurisdictions across the country" to see if they follow laws banning the “harboring or shielding” of undocumented immigrants, Axios reported.

The administration’s suit against New Jersey will attempt to prevent states from enforcing law that stops them from sharing information about criminally charged undocumented immigrants with federal authorities. The King County case will fight a law that bans the Department of Homeland Security “from deporting aliens from the United States through the county airport,” according to Reuters.

How about “significantly escalating” a crew of the progs from each of those locations into a federal prison to await trial?

Barr announces sweeping new sanctions, ‘significant escalation’ against left-wing sanctuary cities

AG Barr launches Presidential Commission on Law Enforcement and Administration of Justice
Commission launched to address problems plaguing law enforcement; panel reaction and analysis.

Charging that so-called “sanctuary” cities that protect illegal immigrants are jeopardizing domestic security, Attorney General Bill Barr announced a slew of additional sanctions that he called a “significant escalation” against left-wing local and state governments that obstruct the “lawful functioning of our nation’s immigration system.”

Speaking at the National Sheriff’s Association 2020 Winter Legislative and Technology Conference in Washington, D.C., Barr said the Justice Department would immediately file multiple lawsuits against sanctuary jurisdictions, and implement new national reviews of left-wing sanctuary governments and prosecutors.

“The department is filing a complaint against the State of New Jersey seeking declaratory and injunctive relief against its laws that forbid state and local law enforcement from sharing vital information about criminal aliens with DHS,” Barr said.

Great idea. Just do it and wake me when there are some results.

I’m hoping and keeping an open mind, but the ONLY thing I want to hear about is results. Don’t tell me what you’re gonna do. Tell me about what you’ve accomplished.

I’m not a blushing virgin who is going to spread her legs based on promises. Show me the money.

Did barr address victims of crimes at the hands if illegal aliens having the right to sue the sanctuary city for civil damages?

seems like a couple huge judgements in wrongful death lawsuits would stop a lotta these sanctuarys???

I am SICK of the “Undocumented Immigrants” fallacy.
Every time I see that term I cringe, as it adopts the seditionist/media PC language and gives away the advantage to them!
“Undocumented Immigrant” is an oxymoron, there is no such think.
Immigrants are documented, with sponsors and posted bonds.
Illegals are not, so cannot be “Immigrants”.
Just speak the accurate truth, Illegal Aliens, Invaders, tresspassing criminals, Identity Thieves, JOB Thieves.

And remind the public that illegal entry is in fact a crime, so every illegal is by definition a criminal.

Enough with pandering to criminals who cannot legally vote, but who DO vote anyway.
And I know that to be a fact, I’ve worked at factories with a lot of “Hispanic” employees, who were very open and unconcerned about penalties for their illegal voting.

In the State of Washington, there actually statutory and case law that makes state and local governments liable for negligent supervision of criminals released from custody.
