“I would need to see the full transcript.”
Better, you can watch the video at the link.
It sounds to me like one way or another the economy is going to all but shut down over this virus. Sooner or later. The only difference is that sooner equals less death.
Wuhan to Rome - 6842 miles. That is driving, however. Shorter if you fly.
Anyway, I think the extra hour or two on the plane is not the difference between why it got loose in Italy and has not gotten loose here so far. Travel restrictions and aggressive containment are.
And Wuhan to Honolulu is like 5366 miles. Plenty of traffic from China to Hawaii. So your distance argument is actually false.
How about Vinegar or Apple Cider Vinegar?
Rush was wrong about the mortality rate.
It is 2-3%. The normal flu is less than 1% but it kills a lot of people because it spreads easily.
This one looks like it spreads very easily too, and from people who show no symptoms and are therefore hard to quarantine.
Border closures and travel restrictions are the only solutions and we aren’t good at that.
“We are talking flying between China and the US and flying between China and Italy obviously, given that you simply can’t drive from China to the US. 7000 miles to the US flying from China is much longer than the 7000 Km to Italy flying from China.”
You’re the only one talking kilometers. I never mentioned them. And flying wasn’t specified, either. Neither was the specific point in China, Italy or the US. But the fact remains that Honolulu is closer to Wuhan than Rome is, so your distance argument fails.
“But be that as it may, we have the vast Atlantic Ocean between us and China and looking at the CDC site we still have only 16 cases in the US including Hawaii that you mentioned.”
The Atlantic Ocean is the one between Europe and America. It’s the even more vast Pacific Ocean - which has that Hawaii place I mentioned smack in the middle of it - between China and America. And we have 57 cases because they repatriated 40 from the Diamond Princess aaaaaaalllll the way across that more vast Pacific Ocean (not the other one).
“What the heck are the Democrats screeching about? Especially since they are the ones that have done everything possible to stop President Trump from securing the border.”
On this, we agree. If this was your original point somewhere back there, I never disagreed with it.
Anyway, a few more hours on a nice airconditioned plane, with all those people crammed into it sharing the same air and facilities should have spread the virus more, not stopped it.
If you don’t accept that the early containment efforts by the Trump Administration made a difference, then maybe it’s the fact that the test kits were defective and only 450-ish people have actually been tested. Another 8 or 10 thousand are on lockdown in various parts of the country, though. So who really knows how many cases we have?
Final point: the Chinese are lying. They have many times the number of cases and deaths they are reporting. Even the WHO and some of our very own traitorcrats are calling them on it. Without even considering why they needed to bring in 40 industrial incinerators, the crematoriums are doing at least triple the business they usually do. They could have handled the bodies they are admitting to with a couple of overtime hours per week. So without doing any heavy math, the death toll there could easily be 100k, not 2k. And that’s a low estimate that assumes the crematorium was already 8/7 full time. I just don’t see any other explanation than excess deaths not being ‘counted’ for the incinerator stuff that has been reported by multiple sources. Either those incinerator stories are being made up by some many-person hoax conspiracy or the Chinese are simply lying. Again.
“Bad timing on this tweet from two days ago:
Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump
The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA. We are in contact with everyone and all relevant countries. CDC & World Health have been working hard and very smart. Stock Market starting to look very good to me!”

I agree. The thing is I think most people aren’t going to want some overly positive response to this because if people start dying it will appear as if he didn’t take it seriously...I am not saying he does not take it seriously, I am only speaking of perception.
Another freeper posted this (see below) and I thought it would be a great response...wish I could get it to Stephen Miller so he could show it to our President...
“He should be acting like a leader, and talking about a tremendous response, that it could be serious, but he will mobilize to protect the country. He should ask for 5 billion or 10 billion in emergency funding. You cant screw up the initial response and recover. He should appoint a response team with the best people in the country. Dont dick around a whine about the stock market. The consequences of over reacting are nil in the long run. The consequence of under reacting is President Sanders.”
Kilometers or miles doesn't matter. The US is far further from China than Italy is, whether in miles or kilometers.
nd flying wasnt specified, either
It could only be by flying. We are talking about the movement of human beings here. Perhaps you will show me the highway from China to US yes?
Neither was the specific point in China, Italy or the US.
Take whatever point you want, West Coast East Coast, it's still further to the US than to Italy.
ut the fact remains that Honolulu is closer to Wuhan than Rome is, so your distance argument fails.
First of all Hawaii is not even part of the US mainland. It's a massive 3758 miles from California. It's like another country. A y epidmic i Canada or Mexico is far more likely to affect people on the mainland than anything i. Hawaii. So we are obviously talking about the US mainland.
Second, by far most of the cornavirus attacks have been China and Korea (which has a border with China) and Japan with is very close to China. These 3 countries account for up to 99% of all known cases. In the US The CDC site still says 14 cases. Figures of up to 50 have been bandied about out of a US population of 330 million. It's infinitesimal.
The Atlantic Ocean is the one between Europe and America. Its the even more vast Pacific Ocean - which has that Hawaii place I mentioned smack in the middle of it - between China and America.
I was thinking Atlantic typed in Pacific.
d we have 57 cases because they repatriated 40 from the Diamond Princess aaaaaaalllll the way across that more vast Pacific Ocean (not the other one).
Still tiny. It's been blown out of all proportion.
“I was thinking Atlantic typed in Pacific.”
No, you still have it backwards. China is on the other side of the Pacific from the US, not the Atlantic.
“Take whatever point you want, West Coast East Coast, it’s still further to the US than to Italy.”
Sigh. You made a very general statement and now you are moving the goalposts. The AIR distance from Shanghai to Seattle is 5736 MILES (not 7000). I could have picked Juneau, that’s only 4882 MILES. Or are you going to say that doesn’t count, either? The AIR distance from Shanghai to Turin is 5733 MILES (not 7000). Essentially the same distance, which was my primary point - Italy and the US are roughly the same distance from China. Further, if going by plane it makes no damn difference if it’s over land or water.
Now, if you want to specify which parts of which countries count to support your flawed argument, feel free. I’ve already demonstrated several ways why your distance claim is junk.
<*>
I haven't thought about that. I use Apple Cider Vinegar for a lot of stuff every day. Last week my wife made some muffins with it. I drink it every day. Wouldn't bother me to smell it through a mask. Good tip, thanks.
More Yahoo Marxist, anti-Trump crap. Wouldn’t expect much else from them.
And you get irritated when folks note how you seem to be a pandemic cheerleader...like Biden, you just don’t get it....
Are you trying to compare the DEADLY Bubonic plague with this VIRUS? You are out of your mind.
PLAGUE vs. VIRUS
The have been many viruses and flus in the last fifty years and they did kill those who were old, children and/or malnourished like much of the third world.
The Bubonic plague was a whole different ball game. But you know that.
“Are you trying to compare the DEADLY Bubonic plague with this VIRUS?”
I am saying that at one point all pandemics or deadly diseases had small numbers of deaths, so saying there are ONLY x number of dead is a logical fallacy and is a deceitful argument.
But you know that.
My, my, you know about ALL PANDEMICS or DEADLY diseases in ALL the history of the world (apparently) AND you know all about the numbers of dead. WHAT an amazing data base you must have.
Careful, Pinocchio, your nose is growing.
“Careful, Pinocchio, your nose is growing.”
Can you point out my falsehood, or are you just projecting?
I see a lot of you guys that think this is nothing resorting to name-calling when your false logic is pointed out instead of arguing your case. Wonder where you got *that* tactic.
