Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said Tuesday that the blame for the slow pace of testing for coronavirus in the U.S. does not lie with either President Trump or the CDC.
Fauci told Hugh Hewitt on "The Hugh Hewitt" show that a "technical glitch" resulted in the delay in production of usable tests in the U.S., something Fauci prescribed to random error.
"[I]t was a complicated series of multiple things that conflated that just, you know, went the wrong way. One of them was a technical glitch that slowed things down in the beginning. Nobodys fault. There wasnt any bad guys there. It just happened," Fauci said.
"Was the glitch or anything about the production of the test President Trumps fault?" Hewitt responded. "Or actually, let me put it more broadly, would every president have run into the same problem?"
"Oh, absolutely," Fauci replied. "This has nothing to do with anybodys fault, certainly not the presidents fault."

“Shit happens!”
No Dr. Shit happens when you have a weak system that is run by a bunch of lifer bureaucrats.
The media will be remembered as Dem campaign consultants that knew how to complain but not offer alternatives.
............
It’s easy to call ‘em from the bench, ain’t it?
This is all the revenge of the fake Media.
I’d think the exact reasons would not be overwhelming to the public so we understand. Muddying the waters by calling it complicated only perpetuates fake news. Government always gets away with lack of transparency.
The left has won the narrative and they have made it about testing not about whether it is real or not or whether the virus was artificially released on purpose as a bioweapon etc. They have simply made it about testing and whether there are enough test or not. And that is something that they can use as a lightning rod to blame President Trump and put the whole thing about the virus and why we’re not recovering and why it’s so bad and why people go out of business because there weren’t enough tests. He needs to re grab the narrative and control it. And he also needs to turn the Surgeon General into more of a pitbull he got double-teamed on CNN the other day with the wonderful and genius-level Alisyn Camerota and dr. Gupta who is the world’s most renowned expert on what is expert.
Except the rest of the world, whose health care systems aren't full of literally treasonous vermin hoping to foment an epidemic to get rid of OrangeManBad, managed to have their tests up and running before we did.
Without an FDA, CDC, or all their bloated budgets.
You had ONE job.
The tests wouldn’t have made a damn bit of difference, we still would be right where we are right now.
It is the fault of prior administrations and of the CDC who clogged down the system in red tape. They were not ready to function on Trump time.
Bureaucrats protect their fiefdoms, crippling innovation and burying problems. Things are done because “that’s how we do them”. Over decades the system gets worse and worse. The people at the top pass the buck, cover up and the incurious press whistles.
Zero, Bush & Clinton ignored their wake-up calls, POTUS did not.
Finally a President that puts Americans first and shines the light of truth behind the curtains.
...nothign to do with “anybodys fault”..
~~~
My ass.
You can’t call it a glitch!!
I used to work in the I.T. and technical fields.
A “glitch” may be in a system or in programming or in hardware, but it’s still somebodies fault, even if it’s a design problem. In the private sector, you don’t get to say ‘sorry, it was just a “glitch” and it was nobodies fault’. If it costs money or safeties, someone’s ass is going to be on the line.
Don’t lay down yet.
The Left makes noise but the end result will tell the story.
Tests are useful but would not have changed the course. As soon as we had community spread the response team started moving towards isolation & preventing further spread.
The number in the pool infected &/or carrying while useful is not as important as the number sickening & how sick they are getting. The % needing hospitalization is much higher than flu, the number of deaths/100k infected is much higher as well.
I think POTUS is doing great at playing the hand our Nation was dealt. I haven’t paid any attention to fake news in a long time. I am not alone and the ranks of those who ignore the news is ever growing although the doubling time is not defined.
When you’re the one in charge, you’re responsible for what happens, glitches, politics, media hysteria, or just the incompetence (or sabotage) of those who preceded you, no one wants to hear it.
One thing earlier testing would have done is driven down the death rate (the %).
Remember how the 3 to 4% got used as predictions of how tens of thousands would already be dead by the FR resident experts on pandemics?
Fauci knows where the fault lies but it is not in our Nation’s interest to dissect blame during the epidemic. People need to have confidence that their is a plan, steps are being taken and this will work itself out in a few weeks or months. That is why there are conferences & POTUS appears each day.
Never fear POTUS knows where the fault lies as well & is moving to eliminate the design flaws.
Does anyone here remember Henry Kissinger? I think Fauci is the Kissinger of the 21st century.
One “glitch” was that the CDC required extensive preparations and follow-up to the tests - the tester was required to put on fresh sterile scrubs, etc., and then, after swabbing the individual, have all of the gloves and other items removed and placed into appropriate + regulated removal bins and, then, repeat everything, patient after patient etc.. POTUS ditched that red tape.
It provided a narrative for the media to toss around.
The CDC was Fighting Racism and Obesity Instead of Stopping Epidemics
And still wondering what our intel services knew about the outbreak and when they knew it...
And when they told Trump.
