British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has told cafes, pubs, restaurants, gyms and cinemas across the country to close and stay shut indefinitely to help slow the spread of the coronavirus outbreak.
"We are telling cafes, bars and restaurants to close tonight as soon as they reasonably can and not to open tomorrow," Mr Johnson told reporters in Downing Street.
"I do accept that what we're doing is extraordinary. We're taking away the ancient, inalienable right of free-born people of the United Kingdom to go to the pub, and I can understand how people feel about that.
"Though to be clear, they can continue to provide takeout services."
Mr Johnson said the measures were intended to be temporary depending entirely on how well the UK deals with slowing down the spread of the virus.

The safe, popular decision.
Uh, “free born people of the UK”? Oh, to go to the pub.
It reminds me of the last call for alcohol in the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
Boris, more than any other leader (Trump included) was more than ready to let the virus burn-through his people.
But now that’s not the case - looks like the FluBros just lost their leader!
Where does the money come from for this?
Pubs...closed...??? I don’t think they even closed for WWI or WWII!
Those weren't communicable diseases.
In Britain, that is a big deal.
The English drink more than the Irish do.
They just explained it on the radio:
“The VAT charges (20% tax) on all affected industries has been suspended until the system is up and running, freeing up £30Bn for companies to pay their staff.”
After that, who knows.
That is very close to my actual reaction. :)
.
Then they can pay 80% of their bills.
Even the VFW is closed.
What will Andy Capp do? Stay home with the missus?
