Coal miners including Consol Energy (CEIX -13.9%) and Contura Energy (CTRA +2.1%) must shut their mines in Pennsylvania by tonight after the governor ordered "non-life-sustaining" to close in an attempt to control the spread of the coronavirus.
The state's list of "life-sustaining businesses" included oil and natural gas extraction, steel mills and metal production but specifically excluded coal mining.
The move has the potential to remove a large volume of coking coal from the global market.
B. Riley FBR analyst Lucas Pipes says the worst-case scenario would have operations down through Q2 but "a shutdown lasting a week to several weeks is much more likely."

Shut down the electricity then. If they have coal plants put them in the dark.

F'n Rats don't understand supply chains. I guess there's nothing downstream in the supply chain from coal mines.

It’s pretty obvious now that an effective strategy to fight the next pandemic is to round up all the lib politicians.

The coal mines should stay open and flaunt the Governor. He does not have the power to shut down an industry. This is akin to ordering the turning off of a steel mills foundry. They cannot just be restarted, it ruins them forever and they must be rebuilt. The same goes for coal fired power plants. This is an underhanded way of getting Chicken Littles agenda through on AGW. Call POTUS and get him to defend your actions.

Vindictive politics much? Nice to see these dregs of society as they truly are in heart, mind, and soul.
An insult to wolves everywhere.

Paper products are all but non-existent on store shelves in my area of Pittsburgh. There might be a few boxes of Kleenex at high prices. None of the moderate price paper items left.

Like I firmly believe. When the titty bars close, I need to start being concerned. And it ain’t concerning me one bit yet.
