That was a weird video, filmed with a backdrop of large, probably transite, sewer pipe. I sort of think it belongs there.

Dimly recall some name like that. No one was listening to whatever it was. Figured the version of bubblegum crap of the time, or something. Simon and Garfnk were similar.

I love Melanie. And when she sang “Beautiful People”, I’m pretty sure she was referring to conservatives. Here she is, singing that song live.

I don’t know if that song was political. But if you read the words it’s definitely not about conservatives.

Beautiful People

Melanie

Beautiful people
You live in the same world as I do
But somehow I never noticed
You before today
I’m ashamed to say

Beautiful people
We share the same back door
And it isn’t right
We never met before
But then
We may never meet again
If I weren’t afraid you’d laugh at me
I would run and take all your hands
And I’d gather everyone together for a day
And when we gather’d
I’ll pass buttons out that say
Beautiful people
Then you’d never have to be alone
‘Cause there’ll always be someone
With the same button on as you
Include him in everything you do

Beautiful people
You ride the same subway
As I do ev’ry morning
That’s got to tell you something
We’ve got so much in common
I go the same direction that you do
So if you take care of me
Maybe I’ll take care of you

Beautiful people
You look like friends of mine
And it’s about time
That someone said it here and now
I make a vow that some time, somehow
I’ll have a meeting
Invite ev’ryone you know
I’ll pass out buttons to
The ones who come to show
Beautiful people
Never have to be alone
‘Cause there’ll always be someone
With the same button on as you
Include him in ev’rything you do
He may be sitting right next to you
He may be beautiful people too
And if you take care of him
Maybe I’ll take care of you
‘Cause all of the beautiful people do
And you’re all beautiful people too

You don’t understand. When it comes to music, I live in a fantasy world of my own making. Facts don’t matter a whole lot. That might be one reason why my first two wives divorced me. :)

Lol

That is my favorite post of the week :-)

It oozes sincerity and sounds like something I would write.

let people say what they want about us but we are brutally honest about what and who we are :-)

Yes. I live live in a fantasy world when it comes to music. I’d like to say more, but I hear a guard’s footsteps. I’m stuck in Folsom Prison, and time keeps draggin’ on.

Well, it’s interesting you think so because she identified herself as a libertarian back when that meant something. You know, back when a lot of people on this forum were calling themselves libertarians.

Saw her in Dallas, spring 1972, it was memorable.

Please don’t confuse me with any facts. I love Melanie. And I love Joan Baez. I might marry one - or both of them - some day. I just hope they look the same way they did back in 1980.

And if they don’t, I don’t want to know about it. Again, don’t confuse me with any facts.

I see by the clock in the wall it’s nap time now.

Regards,
LR
